It's good to be back in the studio regularly again... Some loved ones lost, along with a bit of my musical mojo....   But, I'm back and working on my 8th solo record for release late this year, and have new tunes in the pipe...

However, this month's song is a cover; one that I have always loved...  I'm hoping to get the proper clearances, but for now, it will remain UN-downloadable, nor will it be going to my normal internet radio channels... I do not intend to profit from this is any way...  

Music biz legalese out of the way, I am pleased to offer this cover of The Motels' (Martha Davis), Only The Lonely...  The original tune reached No.9 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 1982...  Martha Davis' haunting vocals on the original have stayed with me since...  I am considered a roots artist, and  the Motels are my roots, along with many other bands...  A lovely song...

Instrumentally, this is quite different from the original version, but I hope I maintained the soulful loneliness of the Martha's beautiful lyric...

When I was a child, my father had an acoustic guitar and played in a band with which he tried to play covers of the Kino band and some of their own music in the style of Viktor Tsoi (Russian Rock). His favorite foreign guitarist was Carlos Santana. But nothing came of it and my father started working in a coal mine. As a result, I grew up without a father. I didn't get musical education and I haven't got a single musical instrument except for a midi keyboard. But there is a great desire to study music further and to create my own music!

This track is a mini-cover of the song of the legendary rock band Lighthouse and their 70s hit One Fine Morning, which I replayed in my own way, funked it, added a touch of smooth jazz, and continued it, especially for B-Boys ;). This song has been playing in my head for over 10 years and there are many different covers of it, including Carlos Santana. From this all I would like to conclude that everything in this life is cyclical and happens for a reason! All hits were already written in the 70s and 80s! Do what you want to do with all your heart and soul, despite the trends and fashion. May the power of funk be with you!
