The Band

Almost Angry consists of four adult boys who are not grown up enough to stop playing with their toys. Because every brutal metal band should be angry as hell, also we try to become angrier. However, this is sometimes difficult seeing our high standard of living north of the Polar Circle. After all, Norway has been ranked as the #1 country to live in for several years in a row now. Our “musical” style is inspired by the darkest days of mid-winter in Northern Norway, shitty weather of Tromsø, almost constant hangovers and other things that routinely get on our nerves. In addition, we draw motivation from beer, and listen to some metal.

Prehistory

Necromatic ʇerrorbrain and Mr Largh where always interested in founding a band, but were too occupied with the band's main influences (beer & metal). Late in 2009 our manager fortunately recruited the awesome Lord Of All Fever And Plagues to reign over the battery. Band practice started shortly after the initial beer feast. Very late 2009 our energetic singer joined and since early 2010 we started to write own songs. Due to hell-of-a-lot other stuff to do our singer showed up quite irregularly and was temporarily replaced by a beautiful maid. Her siren voice was, however, beyond the darkness of the band. End of 2010, our current and very talented new singer joined the crew and brought live back to our rotten souls.

Summer 2011, our former and very talented new singer and our solo guitarist Abigor resigned from the band due to migration. In August 2011, Rex joined the band as a vocalist, but we had little time to make use of his dark talents, as Largh was hanging out somewhere in the U.S. During early 2012, Lord of All Fever and Plagues decided to leave Almost Angry and the band underwent a suspension period.

The hibernation ceased during the darkest days of the winter 2012, when Manglemannen and Jaerv joined the band. Since then Almost Angry has developed a more dedicated approach, although the rebuilding of the band is still in progress. For now, it is too early to say what happens in the future, except for that we all will die eventually at the end.

At the beginning of 2013, we all were a little bit closer to death, but it also seemed that our lineup was complete. During the spring, summer and autumn we wrote and practiced new songs. During the darkest days of 2013, a year after we restarted the band with a new line-up, we released a rehearsal recording of one of our songs (Nobina kan reise). We have learned that playing metal is actually more difficult than drinking beer, at least, if you want to play something together. However, we can almost play five of our own songs at the moment, and have ideas for a couple more. If we continue the current rate of progress, it might very well be that we will have a concert sometime in 2014. Be prepared to get angry. It will be that bad.

American pianist Simone Dinnerstein has been called "a throwback to such high priestesses of music as Wanda Landowska and Myra Hess," by Slate magazine, and praised by TIME for her "arresting freshness and subtlety." The New York-based pianist gained an international following because of the remarkable success of her recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations, which she raised the funds to record. Released in 2007 on Telarc, it ranked No. 1 on the US Billboard Classical Chart in its first week of sales and was named to many "Best of 2007" lists including those of The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The New Yorker. Her follow-up album, The Berlin Concert, also gained the No. 1 spot on the Chart.

Ms. Dinnerstein has since signed an exclusive agreement with Sony Classical, and her first album for that label - Bach: A Strange Beauty - was released in January 2011, immediately earning the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Classical Chart, and making the Billboard Top 200 which compiles the entire music industry's top selling albums in all genres. Most notably, she gave the first classical music performance in the Louisiana state prison system when she played at the Avoyelles Correctional Center. She also performed at the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women, in a concert organized by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to coincide with her BSO debut.

In addition, Ms. Dinnerstein has founded Neighborhood Classics, a concert series open to the public and hosted by New York City public schools. The concerts, which feature musicians Ms. Dinnerstein has admired and collaborated with during her career, raise funds for the schools' Parent Teacher Associations. The musicians performing donate their time and talent to the program. Neighborhood Classics began at PS 321, the Brooklyn public elementary school that her son attends and where her husband teaches fifth grade, and expanded in 2010 to PS 142 on New York's Lower East Side.

Ms. Dinnerstein is a graduate of The Juilliard School where she was a student of Peter Serkin. She was a winner of the Astral Artist National Auditions, and has twice received the Classical Recording Foundation Award. She also studied with Solomon Mikowsky at the Manhattan School of Music and in London with Maria Curcio.
