Short stories is my project to play simple, essential short works for piano that can arouse emotions. This is the sixth track of the series. I hope you enjoy it this and all my little stories.

Short Stories 6 - When Autumn Comes

"There is initiative required to pursue a relationship with a woman or a musical instrument; how often they are alike in their demands ... Ultimately, we are destined for forced labor where no thinking is required" (words of David Dunham, taken by his comment here below). Is artistic imagination destined to disappear, and will humanity indulge in total creative laziness (in music, art, literature), delegating to artificial intelligence the fulfilment of needs that have contributed to human progress?

When I started going to school
I wondered why it was necessary to waste my time
days locked in a classroom listening to
of history mathematics physics, it was a crime

Then I finally got my high school diploma
I got the most with the least effort
I cheated the teachers with great serenity
luckily I wasn't forced to enrol at university

Of course, it was time to work
I didn't know how to do anything.
I worked at McDonald's, at Amazon, at Burger King
It takes a lot of talent to have no skill
It takes a lot of talent to have no skill
never having anything to will

I got married to a good woman
all house, church, shopping, baloney
Being from a good family
there was no shortage of money

We didn't have children, I didn't want them
It would have been too much work to bring them up
Besides, she chose in her spare time finally
working for free as a baby sitter in other families

I kept on doing my daily job
I didn't know how to do anything.

One day my wife asked me for a divorce
I'm sure she didn't have another man
All she said to me was: ‘I'm not your watchman
and it's time to take an holiday from you.
A very long holiday: until I die, or you’

Deep down I didn't even mind
it was better to have an empty house
where I could safely indulge in idleness
without anyone pointing it out to me
renouncing any form of activeness

On the other hand I kept working
even though I didn't know how to do anything.

One day I thought: why not learn to play the piano?
It takes time and effort, maybe is better the ping pong
The guitar? And to do what, 
sing a Frank Sinatra's old and awful song?

But a night while yawning I'm surfing the net
I read about these new programmes, I read about AI
they say that this is quite a little something
without be a hard set
what a beautiful perspective, so eye-catching!
you could write songs 
without even knowing how to do it
make everyone listen to all them 
while you sit in your armchair

That was it, now I ride the wave
I signed up on different platforms
I don't have to use my name
I'm me but I'm not me

I produce several songs a day
have thousands of followers 
they are the flies, 
and I am the spider

I can't play anything
I can't sing
I have not to write what I think
but I became a successful songwriter

method: the soundstream, mostly  in sth akin to c minor, was created on a minilogue xd, voice went through a VT 4 and a flamma pedal
narration: "shadow work" is quite a cumbersome and unsuitable expression for something extremely real (note: this is a poem, don't take things literally, e.g. the "pictish murals" - the rampant  illiteracy regarding poetic means is a sign of the times that is increasingly bothering me .... )
