Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

The idea for this song came to me in the summer of 2020 while I was sitting in a beautiful garden with nothing more but a book and a coffee. However, I only finished writing it in March 2022.

While the original idea for the song came to me in French, I spontaneously mixed English and French while writing the lyrics of the verses. Since most of the books I am reading are either in English or French, it makes perfect sense, though!

My song "Lucid Dreaming" is about dreams in which you know you are dreaming. You are aware that the events that are happening in your imagination are not really happening and more like a movie. But the dream feels alive and you can influence it like a video game. This rich textured soothing Track, with a storytelling David Axelrod Bass and Guitar, a dreamy Rhodes and Piano is the Soundtrack to this dream.

Battery Operated Orchestra’s new music video is well-timed with the horror season. Always On draws parallels between the preening mice of John Calhoun’s experiments in utopia and the effects of the insistent feed of social media.
This synthpop punch has been spiked. BOO’s trademark analogue oomph is there along with Brigitte’s dead-pan to increasingly hysteric vocals. The catchy whoops make you want to groove but in the back of your mind is the niggling feeling they could be screams of terror. It all builds to a whirling climax you can’t help but be swept up in.

The single will be available to stream or to buy with pre-orders of their fifth album Compulsory Games from Friday October 6th.
