A lament of grumpy old men at a nursing home called Who Cares

Tetanus vaccine gave protection as a child
didn't help when I was bullied in the playground wild
my teachers didn't care about the poorest of the pile.
No tuberculosis, but depression filled my mind
kicked out of Google, the cat died, hope declined
nights were comfortless in spite of
the anesthesia of a wine.

why couldn't doctors vaccinate against those blights

a needle to my butt and out of misery
life was meager, inattentive

I got only crumbs.

For a very short while I danced with Martha Lee

my heart was not immune to it, I got sick of chronic grief.

still I couldn't fight the longing
