Very excited to debut a new project by local radio host, event curator, DJ and all round beautiful person Claire Dickson. You may know Claire from her work with PBS, where she has presented a wide range quality music on her former show Circling the Sun and as an on again off again co-host of The Breakfast Spread with our friend Milo. She also runs the excellent Listen Here online radio station and is one of the minds behind local dance music event/mix series @luna_blessings with @djluvyou. What a resume! Daphne is Claire's DJ alias for exploring the darker/clubbier sides of electronic music. Keep an eye/ear out for Daphne in a club near you soon :)

"This mix is made up of tracks that have ripped me out of bed on a lazy day or gotten me through a brisk power walk home throughout 2020 & 2021.

'30,000 steps' is in commemoration of the most steps I have ever done in a 24 hour period. Hopefully someone else breaks a sweat listening to this as well.

I like to keep my DJ sets relatively high energy, particularly after the lock down slumber. I've found DJing to be a really great energy release for me and it's definitely something that has been getting me through the transition back to normality.

All Night In Heaven by Bushwacka! is for sure one of my favourites. I'm an absolute sucker for a euphoric breaksy track with an r&b vocal, gets me every time. One of the first records I ever bought was a (very) beat up Bushwacka! 12" so it's close to my heart."

Moktar is a Naarm based DJ and producer. Drawing on his background of Egyptian - Australian, he infuses Arabic percussion and techno to curate his signature sound.

Moktar - E404 Lockin4u Mix

New York City–based producer Ford Scott makes his label debut with four club-ready weapons that fuse deep minimal grooves with high-energy drive. Drawing inspiration from 90s house while adding his own modern edge, Ford has caught the attention of some of the scene’s biggest names with his innovative basslines, meticulous sound design, and relentless dancefloor focus.

The A-side opens with Watch Out, a crafty, rolling bassline paired with sleek, layered synth work and captivating sound design. Next up, Work That Body delivers suspense-filled builds and explosive drops, pairing hypnotic vocal chops with a punchy bassline for a full-throttle dancefloor weapon.

On the B-side, The Message channels 90s hip-hop swagger into a groovy, bass-driven cut with intricate melodic textures and fluid, evolving atmospheres. Closing out the EP, Can’t Sit Down turns up the heat with futuristic synth stabs, a driving low end, and a tightly-wound arrangement that refuses to let the energy drop.

"Venturing into a more experimental auditory sphere, the mix reads as an audio-collage, incorporating dialogue and film scores blended with sounds spanning from Naarm (Melbourne) to Belgrade, Beirut to Belgium.
