Gilmore Trail are an instrumental rock band from Sheffield, consisting of Bob Brown on drums, David Ivall and Danny Mills on guitar, and Joe Richards on bass. Formed by Mills and original drummer Sam Ainger, the band is named after a trail in Alaska – a route recommended for best experiencing the Northern Lights.

The music has been described as bearing both the intricacy of progressive rock and the atmosphere of post-rock – the culmination of a mix of influences including Oceansize, King Crimson, This Will Destroy You, Pink Floyd, Intronaut and Buckethead. 

​The band's first release was the “Circle of Least Confusion” EP (2011), which was recorded by Dave Sanderson at 2Fly Studios in Sheffield in October 2011. It was nominated alongside a Best EP by Sheffield Scenester, and received repeated airplay on BBC Radio Sheffield and an 'In Session' feature for Exposed Magazine (a double-page spread in the magazine and a live session for their website).

Gilmore Trail's first full-length album "Sailing Stones" (2013) was again recorded at 2Fly Studios, expanding on the themes and groundwork laid by the EP. It was supported by frequent live shows around the country, including a UK tour with Tim Holehouse, two headline slots at Tramlines festival in 2014 and a third at the 2015 rendition. It was nominated for Best Album by Sheffield Scenester.

The second album "The Floating World" was released on 16th May 2015 at a sold out show in Sheffield. It received early support from Prog Magazine, BBC Radio Sheffield (including a studio performance and interview), and Clash Magazine, with a video for lead single 'Memories of Redfern'. The album was met with unanimous acclaim from around the world, including coverage in Rocksound, Exposed, The Big Issue and Toast, plus a few appearances on BBC 6 Music courtesy of Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson.

The band embarked on a second UK tour in 2016, co-headlining with Fly on Byrd, Fly on. This culminated in a homecoming show in Sheffield, which served as the last gig with Sam Ainger on drums. His departure from the band was amicable, and the task of filling his shoes was taken head-on by Bob Brown, who joined in March 2016.

​Gilmore Trail released of "Twin Peaks" in 2016 - a brand new single and music video born out of love for the works of Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch. Freely downloadable, it celebrates the commencement of the 25th year (to the day) since Laura Palmer uttered the words “I’ll see you again in 25 years…” 

​2017 saw the band’s biggest gig to date as they played the Yohkai stage of ArcTanGent Festival alongside such bands as Explosions in the Sky, God Is An Astronaut, SikTh, Converge, Boris, Vennart and Russian Circles. 

'Impermanence' - the band's third full-length record, is scheduled for release in January 2022.

The Transatlantique has been sailin' the seven seas of Rock n' Roll for about seven years now (April 2019), and has been spreading its own legend by piling up songs, demos and EPs. The music speaks for itself: stop the show, listen to this, get pissed, destroy, in whatever order suits you better.

And if you need to know about how it all started:

Transatlantique is a one-of-a-kind super-band. It finally unites two of the most important figures of the Villeurbanne late-90s alternative scene: Bich and GB. Both musicians contributed to forge that world-famous Villeurbanne garage sound, Bich playing the guitar with the Junky Family and GB being the Pink Elef drummer. Many a time would they all jam in GB's basement, and GB often filled in for the JF chaotic drummer's position. But it's the very first time that they actually join forces in a proper band.

The path to the Transatlantique was not a straightforward one though, and I will tell you a little bit of this piece or history. The Junky Family couldn't handle the pressure of their fast-growing fame, and split at the verge of the 2000s, after having played small and big venues in Villeurbanne, from the Blue Banana to the PezNer. The Pink Elefs were also falling apart at that time, mostly due to artistic divergences. The whole Villeurbanne scene was shaken by the uprising of the so-called new metal, and the movement as a whole quickly disappeared.

GB decided to be a session drummer for some time, going from jazz to French folk to experimental rock seamlessly and finally settled by founding Zoltek, an effort that would successfully span several years, climaxing with a joined tour with the Efficace Machine. Bich was embittered by the Junky Family sad ending, and went to Paris with the other JF guitarist, the Funky Mix Man. Together they started the Stinckin' Ass Bitches, and play a few gigs in local colleges, and recorded a long-lost demo tape. But Paris is a demanding lady, and the band quickly split as they were facing too high stakes. They friendly parted ways, and Bich decided to step back from the French Alt/Rock scene for a while. He explored jazz a little, and spent a summer in Ireland learning about Celtic folk music and street musicianship. He came back to Paris and leaded a humble jazz/rock combo there, the Jazzalobs. But the band fell apart, mostly because Bich felt that Rock was calling his name once again.

At that same time, Zoltek was also going down. At the band's creative peak, the singer left to Bolivia, and disappeared for several years. The band stood together until he finally emerged, but things were never the same, and Zoltek finally exploded from its own internal pressure.

And this is when the Transatlantique started. Bich decided to go Hollywood to try his luck at the world's musical heart, strengthened by his four years of learning from other musical genres. He found in the California sun, hills and beaches the exact inspiration he needed. On a creative spree, he started recording songs on and on, with a simple approach: one verse songs, two-three takes solos, and record the songs just as fast as you can.

Bu he also got gun-shy with Tin city, and found the LA hipsters to be just as boring as the Paris poseurs. He could not see himself in a band with anyone else than GB - he's the freackin' best drummer around after all. He set up to record beat-free tracks to send over the Ocean to his friend in Villeurbanne, and this is how the band got its name.

Started with music in 1987 by purchasing my first cassette single - Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind and followed with the thumping China In Your Hand by T’Pau. 

Not put off by my tone deafness I continued to get into all genres from the Electro 80’s, entered the rave scene in the early 90’s and then dipped my toe into the indie groove but got disillusioned by that scene once I’d overplayed anything by Radiohead and found grunge.  Whilst having a bromance with anything Jam and Pearl in colour I started to learn about what makes music what it is. Not just a catchy jingle on the radio but what lyrics are and what they mean. Once I started to learn that music is more than airplay I soon found myself in the intelligent musical wormhole of Pink Floyd, Procol Harem, a bat eating dude from Birmingham, some porn tashed metal dudes from West Bromwich and of course Robert Plant and his mesmerizing stairway. The list is endless.  At this stage I would listen to anything I could resonate with so if I found that Mate.Kill.Feed.Repeat was a perfect feeder album for Rumours then it got played on my twin tape Bush hifi. Friends often leave educated after discussing my music tastes albeit after a long one way conversation and journey through the music that is me. 

(Fast forward to 2018).  

I can’t play musical instruments even though I have flirted with the trombone but that skill is for people who can count cards and drive Citroen 2CV’s. 

So, at the age of 41 I decided that I’d give DJ’ng a blast.  I’d gotten into a lot of the +135 bpm genres with trance and progressive psytrance being my preferred learning tool. 

I profess, I’m not a good DJ but I play what I like and if you hang around for long enough you may like it too. Recently touching back in my rave roots with a big set coming up soon.  Deep House is starting to feel like I should mix it more and now I have a new turntable, I’ll be mixing some of my Cambodian Psychedelic crushers into my mixes. 

Preferring to start my mixes with long drawn out spoken word passages from Ram Dass, Alan Watts or some lesser famous philosophers like VB Bob from my local, they’re then introduced with a medium hit of bass and the rest just follows. Sometimes I get it all wrong and it’s terrible, other times it’s foot tappy and the moves get busted. I’ve never been paid to play and I never want to get paid either. I don’t like the idea that other music lovers enjoyment is dependent on who can give me the most $$$ or most exposure. This is why I’ve never played anywhere of significance (and because I’m not as good as those who do get paid and deservedly so)

Come to my house or invite me to yours and I’ll put something together. Offer me a set at a weekender and I’ll do it for free, use the cash for charity or buy tickets for those who can’t afford to buy. 

Basically, I love music, I’m learning to mix and getting better, age has no meaning when music is being played.  If you want to hear Rihanna getting a mashup with Bieber whilst My Heart Will Go On plays as an out of time sub beat - go listen to it. Not from me though. I won’t play commercial pop and most often you’ll hear traces of my musical roots throughout my sets mixed with the impressive production skills of medium fame artists. Don’t expect too much with effects either, artists spend days and weeks in their studios perfecting their works of art. Not cool if I destroy it thinking it’s cool to twist the nips off my flanger and filter effects. 

I’m a pretty cool dude who’s relaxed and happy to accept the opinions of critics as a tool of improvement. If you don’t like my music, you’ll love my humour. I’m adorable. Ha ha... I’m just me. 

Go steady with whatever you do in life and do it moderately. If you’ve read this far then hats off to you. You’re either a non-quitter or just really frikkin curious.

BIO DUBRUNNERS

Dubrunners es un nuevo proyecto centrado en el dubstep, creado para difundir dicha cultura de subgraves en Valencia, y en definitiva, mostrar al resto del mundo su visión sobre esta variedad electrónica.
Este movimiento lo crea dj Schepsis, que después de vivir intensamente la escena en Ámsterdam con diferentes colectivos y asociaciones ( SENIOR PRODUCTIONS, HIGH PRIORITY, DUB CITY ) llega a Valencia como nueva residencia, y es aquí, donde su ansia vital impulsada por la presencia de subgaves en la tierra, decide poner en marcha este proyecto.
Más tarde se añade Mourra, dj valenciano perteneciente al colectivo Ribera junglist, que a la par que su compañero, trataba de hacer sonar este estilo de música en la escena valenciana, siendo hoy uno de los pioneros del dubstep en esta ciudad.
Era el destino que estos dos dj´s  se juntaran para nutrirse mutuamente y aprender el uno del otro. Así que desde el primer momento, no han dejado de perfeccionar sus B2B, integrando elementos analógicos y digitales, para ofrecer un set impecable, dinámico y con su sello personal, moldeándolo a su estilo, para formar uno de los tándems más potentes hoy por hoy, en cuando a subgraves se trata.
En sus inicios han participado con STREET PLAN, una de las primeras promotoras de Valencia que decide apoyar 100% el dubstep, creando eventos como DUBSTEP RULES, DESTROY THE CITY Y BASS IS BACK, donde han compartido cartel con figuras representativas del panorama nacional  ( JUNGLE JUNGLE, MADRID MASSIVE o FOCKIN MASSIVE), así  como  con figuras del panorama internacional: AIR J,( BEL), INVASIAN CREW KILLAH (LON) O BOJCOT SELECTAH (AMS)…
En menos de un año han actuado en la mayoría de las salas adaptadas y/o vinculadas a este estilo como: TWIST ( MAD), XPRESSING UNDERGROUND (BNC), MINICLUB, AREA 46, QOQOA, VELVET… (VLC); en totalidad de disco-pub que integran el dubstep en su programación: Flow, Pink, doble gota, túrmix, juanita club…(vlc).
Así mismo han participado en dos de las citas más importantes para los seguidores del dubstep y el dub en el panorama español como el ROTOTOM SOUNDSPLASH 2010, Y EL MOUNTAIN BASS 2010.
Actualmente regentan en RADIOCITY (vlc), cita mensual (miércoles) llamada BASSCITY. También participan individualmente en eventos creados por los colectivos a los que pertenecen: STEET PLAN ( Schepsis ), RIBERA JUNGLIST ( Mourra).
