Since his debut on 2019’s Anjunadeep Explorations 11 with ’Sama', Simon Doty has put out four standout EPs on the label, his latest being the four-track ‘Solaris EP’. The Canadian producer has developed a reputation for delectable deep melodic house, garnering support from the likes of Phil Taggart, Danny Howard, Gorgon City, Cassian, Jax Jones, Lane 8, and releasing on Knee Deep In Sound, Einmusika, and This Never Happened.

Opening the EP with title track ’Solaris’, Doty shows his darker club side, reminiscent of 2020’s ‘Rave Generator’. The sun-drenched piano riff in 'House for All’ beckons the return of summer, whilst ‘Belikewater' and collaboration with Argentinian producer Ezequiel Arias ‘Requiem’ feature the progressive vibes that Doty is known for - the former track featuring on flagship label compilation Anjunadeep 12.

Dennis Cruz continues his standout run-of-form in 2021 with the release of his latest single, What U Doing. Soon-to-appear on his forthcoming album, Roots, the single is a collaboration with UK singer-songwritwer Leo Wood and includes a remix by iconic German house producer Mousse T.

Two worlds come together in perfect harmony, as the five-minute number gets underway with shimmering bell chimes and Leo’s soothing vocal offerings. Dennis’ influence soon arrives, taking the form of a punchy, four-four bassline whilst echoing synths purr intermittently in the background. Mousse T ́s 'Deep Shizzle' Extended Remix brings things to a feel-good close, with upbeat piano rolls residing atop euphoric chords to create a dancefloor cut that you can’t help but smile to.

After quite a hiatus the Ex-Kölner and semi-new-Neuköllner artist Johannes Klingebiel eventually delivers his follow-up record to his much-loved "Latewood" EP on Feines Tier. And this time he says, go big or go home! Alles oder nichts. All or nothing. The title track is probably the fastest track he ever released (he tried to slow it down a notch... didn't work!) and is overflowing with all kinds of emotions with the utmost urgency any dancefloor can achieve. When this tune is on, it really feels like everything is on the line! The a1 track Xero is more relaxed on that front, grooving and jamming away on a simple synth-pattern, which could basically go on forever if you'd just let it. The remaining original Zopf is label honcho Philipp Fein's secret favorite of the record and a piano house banger maybe not in its purest but definitely in the most Klingebiely form. Some wonky chords and tipsy high notes, what else do you need?! On the flip you'll top class remixes by Innervisions staple Marcus Worgull and Spanish up-and-comer Gullen, who put their own personal spin on two of the tunes.

Get Physical Music prepares to release the 23rd chapter to their ‘Body Language’ album series, with a second taster from album compiler Cioz.

Italian talent Cioz is a well-established DJ and producer who has released on labels like Crosstown Rebels, Monaberry and Get Physical Music, whilst gaining support from Solomun, Super Flu, Einmusik & Andhim. Following the release of his ‘Dancing In The Night’ single on Get Physical, March now sees the multi-faceted artist drop the second taster from his forthcoming ‘Body Language’ album.

The package welcomes two collaborations, one with Berlin based DJ/production duo Boy Oh Boy and the other with Cape Town native Sides. Boy Oh Boy are originally from Germany and France but after emigrating to the southern hemisphere they came to prominence within New Zealand’s underground house scene, hosting their self-titled events and performing at festivals alongside the likes of Steve Bug, Kink and Bontan. Now they are back in Berlin and pushing things forward once again. South Africa’s Sides is a genre bending producer with material on Traum Schalplatten, Songspire Records and Ambious, whilst gaining notable support from Guy J, Eelke Kleijn, Enamour and D-Nox.

The record opens with the immediately electrifying ‘Focus Pocus’ marrying distorted tones with organic percussion and heavy melodic touches to notable effect. Next up, ‘Warm Worm’ is a more straightforward affair with relentless builds, dubby chords and ethereal pads to bring this most excellent EP to a finish.

Over a period of seventeen years, Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels has evolved into a world-renowned institution, garnering global audiences thanks to a consistent schedule of quality releases. Quintessential to the label’s success is the Spirits series, with each edition acting as a musical bastion to showcase the talents of both established and breakthrough artists alike. Now, after much anticipation, the world-renowned compilation will see the light of day once more in the form of Spirits IV, the fourth installment in Spirits’ ever-evolving saga. A mixed version of the album will also be included in the release, as a digital bonus track.

Ahead of its release, label-founder Damian Lazarus described the ethos behind the series: “The Spirits series is a very important platform for incredible new club music, often created by up and coming artists. The tracks are tried and tested over a twelve month
period by myself at parties and no stone is left unturned to ensure the absolute quality of every cut on the album. Deep, twisted
and beautiful music for the dancefloors of tomorrow.” 

That last sentence is epitomised in the compilation’s very beginning, as Alex Kennon and Pete Tong’s Apache leads with a stirring intensity, gently winding between spirit-healing vocals and resonant kick-hat combos. Echoe-founder Francesca Lombardo showcases her decade-long production experience in Freak On Sea, providing a dubby-leaning club cut that features progressive key changes throughout before Martin Badder and Pablo:Rita’s stunning collaboration, Phase, soon arrives in its place, rippling with a gentle lucidity thanks to a subtle four-four bassline and mesmeric singing tones. 

ANTS regular Andrea Oliva takes no prisoners on Rawman, serving up a near six-minute cut of pummeling kicks that build into a brooding synth-fuelled crescendo, whilst Russian-born up-and-comer Artur Nikolaev showcases his inherent artistic expression on Alma, creating an eleven-minute voyage into minimal techno’s deeper realm with stripped-back bass and hypnotic vocal samples. California’s Lubelski teams up with singer-songwriter Xkylar on Passion Fruits, a track that dives between slow-burning percussion and emotion-lead pads, paving the way for I See Colour, the latest collaboration from UK-native Luke Brancaccio and long-standing production partner Cypherpunx. Crosstown Rebels regular Made By Pete makes his Spirits debut next, presenting a tribal-laced mystic number in the form of Harar before Turkey’s leading exponent Ali Kuru teams up with Nublu Records founder Ilhan Ersahin on the jazz-dotted, Middle-Eastern inspired Eplos. Super Natural quickens the pace courtesy of enigmatic Barbados-born talent Murr, alongside Rosina’s ethereal vocal offerings that enchant as much as they delight, whilst veteran
German producer DJ Linus gives us the penultimate track on Vibes In Space. Indicative of the track’s progression, we are taken on a celestial journey through starry-eyed synths and soft whispering hats, leading neatly into the compilation’s closing saga in the form of Matador’s Vulture, a straight-talking dancefloor cut that showcases the Rukus-founder at his best.
