Woke up late, sun beatin’ down
Flat tire on the way outta town
Loaded the truck with the gang and gear
Cooler full of hopes and ice-cold beer

Pulled up to the lake with a bang and a backfire
Boat wouldn’t start, then it caught on fire
Jimmy grabbed a hose but sprayed ol' Dan
Now he’s half wet and smellin’ like Spam

But hey, we’re laughin’ in the weather
Soaked in beer and barbecue together
Dog ran off with the ribs, no one could catch her
But it doesn’t matter, life’s only getting better!

Tried to fish with a stick and string
Hooked my hat, not a single thing
Then Joe brought out his granddad’s gun
Said, “We ain’t catchin’ fish, let’s just have fun!”

Shot at a can, hit the boat by mistake
Plugged a hole—now it floats like a rake
Dog came back with a skunk in her mouth
We all jumped in and swam it out

Yeah, we’re soaked and smellin’ like leather
But this mess just ties us closer together
Smoke in our eyes, but hearts light as a feather
'Cause it doesn’t matter, life’s only getting better!

We ain’t fancy, but we’re rich in laughs
Countin’ stories in the aftermath
Broken chairs and burnt hot dogs
We’re kings and queens in cut-off logs

Yeah, the boat's sinkin’ and we lost the tether
But the sky’s still blue, and we’re light as a feather
With beer in hand, and a pack of go-getters
