Good sense of melancholy. I like the varied drum beats.

Incredible sonic vision & exotic tune sequencing!  A splendid sonic & philosophical depiction! Reminds me of a spin-off of "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep". If no one could serve two masters without favoring one over the other, then it is intriguing that humans teaching A.I. emotion might create an A.I. with jealousy & then there would be division. Look upon the status of humans already. If we can't stop bad, how will we teach to abstain from it?   Wars exist because of lack of contentment.  Creating a subdivision of humanity & training it to have its own independent thinking will surely at some point provide downfall. IF humans could already obliterate or diffuse jealousy or hatred then we'd have a future of hope realized awaiting. Until that is accomplished, chaos will ensue, unfortunately. BRAVO for stimulating the thought-provoking aspect of this contemplation! Dreams are for those with souls. No one can assimilate a soul. You create a shell of the original, just like clones.

There's strange. And then there's weird. And then there's Sun Ra. Imagine, if you can or will, a 27-piece (or thereabouts) atonal anarchic jazz ensemble (the Arkestra) featuring at various times a bassoon played with a trumpet mouthpiece, African dancers, and a fire-eater. Imagine further that this assemblage and its man-of-mystery leader could actually make this stuff accessible and enjoyable! 
That was Sun Ra. Those of us in Philly knew him a bit better than other places, for he lived here (cheaper to drive the band to gigs in NYC than to live there, some things haven't changed) in a big old house in the Germantown section. From what I heard the house was as unorthodox as its resident maestro. If he'd been white nobody would have hesitated to call it a commune.
You don't "cover" an artist like Ra, all you can do is let his interplanetary anarchy react with the portions of your soul akin to it, and be prepared to abandon all preconceptions while recording and mixing the results. Just so have I done. A ton of saxes, several clarinets of various registers, flute stand-ins: piano, organ, a little synth, and the bass: and my dozen-odd African percussion section. If I were doing this live, even with a band of multi-instrumentalists, I'd need a band the size of the Arkestra itself.
Sun Ra passed on in 1993 to wherever self-professed Saturnians go when they depart this plane: but longterm saxman Marshall Allan has kept the Arkestra running. Go here for the latest: sunraarkestra.com  The site contains NO COOKIES! Clearly good developments in more than music are at work here!

The Eclectic Collective -- composition

This song began, as so many of ours do, with JJ coming up with the skeleton of it on his electric piano, organ, and synth during one of his Saturday night jam sessions. He originally laid down a bass line for it, too, which might be better than what Josh came up with, But he was kind enough to let Josh in on it, too, adding his four string fretless bass on top of Ken's intricate, lively drums.

  Once the rhythm section was complete, it was time for Stephen and Tez to add their guitar magic to the mix, too. They both laid down some thrilling guitar lines throughout. Josh lastly added the spooky synth theremin you hear throughout.

  When it was all finished and in the can, we asked Stephen to mix it for us, which he did in a professional manner. He also added the creepy sound effects you hear throughout, as well. 

  This song is an example of how the Eclectic Collective can take an idea from one of us, and make it grow into a monster. Speaking of monsters, we decided to release this a day early to coincide with the holiday. Happy Halloween from The Eclectic Collective! We hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed creating it.
