The idea that we have 'inner demons' is simply that - an idea. When we look closer at our experience with gentle honesty what we discover is that when we let go of the story we've been telling ourselves about our experience, what remains is emotion. And when we take a closer look at the emotions we discover that they are sensations in the body.

These sensations are simply energy and that energy is often not flowing freely and so it is experienced as discomfort. There can be a temptation to try to escape this discomfort, to run from it, escape it, numb ourselves, tell a new story about the future when we will experience something more pleasant, but all of these movements are born from resistance. When we allow the resistance and consciously choose to gently meet the inner sensations with unconditional love and allow ourselves to feel the discomfort, we create inner space and openness and that in turn allows the energy to flow and integrate. This is the fastest, most effective way to integrate painful emotions, by fully allowing them, fully feeling them and unconditionally loving them.
