This is a song we felt compelled to learn a few years ago, and we feel the need to post it now.  There is no time like the present.  Like our other tracks, it was performed at a local low-income senior housing complex for a very forgiving audience.

Did this one before work like I have been doing lately.   This is a rough first take and not sure if it is good or not.  would like feedback

Was thinking recently what is true worship?  It came to me that like music it should come from the heart and then this music came to me.  It is spontaneous so it is not perfect but it is truly from my heart and I would like to think of it as a true worship .    Heaven knows we need hope in this new world we live in and in my thinking it starts with true worship of the  one who gives hope.

A spontaneous piece that just fell on me the other night..I played this through tears and thought I would share it.  Not perfect but left it as it came.

Early in the Morning (Personal Devotions)

Written one hundred years ago by former pharmacist, C. Austin Miles, "In the Garden" was (and is) one of the most beloved hymns of protestant churches in the U.S. during the 20th century. 

This version is based on 314 in the official Methodist Hymnal. Miles said he wrote it after having a dream of Mary Magdalene as described in John Chapter 20, so it can also be viewed as a lost love song. The part about walking in the garden "while the dew is still on the roses" makes me think of the many young people who died in the influenza epidemic that swept the world shortly after Miles wrote this song. 

Though there have been many versions of this song -- by Elvis Presley, Perry Como...it's best know where we live as a favorite of early traveling evangelist and former major league baseball player, Billy Sunday.

We began our recording with Corinne playing from the hymnal in the non-metronomic style that was prevalent in country churches when I was a kid. Then we added guitar, ukulele, a rock flavored organ, etc. It was an interesting project; especially because the music has just a whiff of ragtime, the popular music of the day. 

A side note to those of you familiar with the SC group I moderate, Tune Town. The young girl pictured on the crescent moon was Helen Plumber nee Helen Becknell, Corinne's grandmother, at the Bourbon (Indiana) fair. It must have been shot about the same time this song was written. This she claimed as her favorite hymn, though she claimed many as her favorite, and we dedicate our humble efforts to her memory. TODAY

Scarborough Fair is a traditional English folk song. The author is unknown. Probably the best-known version today is the adaptation by Simon & Garfunkel, which first appeared in 1966 on the album Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme.
I wrote this German text in 1994.

English translation of my text:

Look at the fields in autumn.
The grain turns yellow, ready to mow.
Reminds me of days gone by.
It was beautiful, I think about it a lot.

And the vines with grapes so heavy.
Makes the wine that we loves so much
Come winemaker, because the work is done.
Raise your glass, because the festival begins.

Forests colorful, a colorful splendor.
Red, green, yellow, autumn made it.
Winter is coming soon and covering everything.

Greetings! We are Jonny Hummingbird and Shelley Meadowlark, an acoustic duo available for hire that just loves to share great songs for people. Our style is an odd mix of genres, and our song list ranges from timeless pop, to folk, country, bluegrass, gospel, and even a couple of 15th century numbers! We play live at a variety of venues, including restaurants, lounges, festivals, fundraisers, church functions, funerals, private parties, and the occasional private acousticism for those suffering persistent electric earworms. :-)
Seriously though, we are hobby musicians who just hope we can bring some joy to those who hear our music. Will be slowly adding songs to this page. Thank you for listening.
