A showcase of fresh talent from the global electronic scene, Anjunadeep’s Explorations series returns for its seventeenth instalment, this time curated by Above & Beyond’s Tony McGuinness. Regularly livestreaming extended deep sets on Twitch, Tony continually demonstrates his affinity for groove-laden tracks, and his capabilities as a selector of deep house are on show on this new four-track EP.

Kicking off the compilation, Fingerprint, a new project from Tony McGuinness, and rising Anjuna star Spencer Brown collaborate on ‘Santorini’. Leading with cascading synths and bouncing drums the dynamic duo demonstrate their renowned production techniques. 

Next up, Argentinian based DJ and producer Sebastian Sellares marks his Anjunadeep debut with ‘Garden of Eden’, featuring a bold bass and ambient melodies. Third track ‘Petrichor’, from Brazil’s RIGOONI presents a marked contrast in tone, and shows off the delicate production style that’s earned him releases on Balanced Music, The Soundgarden and Higher States.

Closing the EP is collaborative cut ‘Central Park’ from Sevastopol native Mango and Qatar’s A.M.R. Leading with emotive piano chords, the duo showcase their intricate sound design that has seen them both release on notable labels including Monstercat Silk.

"  An artist with a growing reputation within the underground dance fraternity, Sebastian Sellares makes his Meanwhile debut with his "Dunes at Dawn" EP.

After a 2018 debut for PHW Elements, Sebastian Sellares has made increasingly sizeable waves with his smooth and unique musical style. Already seeing his music signed to an array of high-profile imprints including onedotsixtwo, UV and Or Two Strangers, Proton Music's "Zen State / Jinsei" was a further notable highlight in October 2020 including remixes from Matias Chilano and Bedrock's Nick Muir.

The title-track opener is a gloriously atmospheric offering that builds gently over a rhythmic foundation of rolling top-line groove and pounding beat. Filtered pads soon enter the fray followed by atmospheric birdsong effects and rippling arpeggiated synth line that resonate with the "Dunes at Dawn" title. Rising to a spine-tingling zenith at the mid-point alongside deep, captivating bassline, the second half continues the rich melodic collage creating a sumptuous start to the EP.

Continuing the powerful rhythmic basis of the opener, "The Stars Above" scintillates with its chugging rhythmic vibe and syncopated bassline pattern. Evolving through subtle percussive urgency, dreamlike pads float across the mid-range beside steam-powered white noise waves, before intricately programmed synth plucks complete the foundations. Before long, undulating arpeggios glitter in delayed patterns as counterpoint phrasing adds emotion and guile to create a contemplative offering.

"Nocturne" completes the musical triptych, revelling in a subtle melodic hypnotism that blends acid-tinged loop with flowing analogue motifs. Panning the stereo spectrum with plucked phrases, a magnificent combination of counterpoint melodies rise and fall across a nine-minute magnum opus that results in another string to Sellares' increasingly powerful bow.

Argentinian artist Sebastian Sellares returns to Anjunadeep with three-track EP 'Lullaby of the Seraphim'. The release follows Sebastian's 2021 label debut with his track 'Garden of Eden', which has amassed over 730k streams to date as part of VA compilation Anjunadeep Explorations 17.

The EP comprises of three organic, deep house cuts complete with plucked leads, rolling basslines and evolving pads. The release showcases the effortless style that has earned the Córdoba-based producer extensive DJ support from the likes of Hernán Cattáneo, Markus Schulz, Nora En Pure, Marsh and Ben Malone of Kiss FM.

Ruben Karapetyan’s RKP imprint continues a strong start to the year by welcoming Shayan Pasha to the label for his debut single. Hailing from Iran, Shayan Pasha first emerged as a DJ in 2010 where he quickly became a fixture of his country’s nightlife, while performing alongside some of the world’s top progressive house talents. A production career would follow where early releases via Area Verde, Massive Harmony Records and his own Wander Nation imprint would establish Shayan as a name to watch. 2023 proved to be Shayan’s most prolific and successful year to date, notching key projects for Droid9, MNL and Transensations Records, while also receiving play from progressive house icon Hernan Cattaneo on multiple occasions. Now, looking to continue on an upwards trajectory, Shayan begins the new year by making his RKP debut with ‘Synonym’, alongside remixes HAFT and Kenan Savrun. 

The release concludes with Kenan Savrun making his label debut with the second final interpretation of ‘Synonym’. Hailing from Ankara, the Turkish artist has a long history as a DJ dating back over two decades, having shared the booth with Alex Niggemann, Eli & Fur, Victor Ruiz and Oliver Huntemann. Upon releasing his first productions in September of 2018, Kenan has since gone on to showcase his music via longstanding imprints such as 3rd Avenue, Droid9, Global Underground, One Of A Kind and more. With 2023 wrapping up with a collaborative EP for Univack alongside RKP boss Ruben Karapetyan, Kenan now makes his label debut with a trippy rendition of ‘Synonym’. With a deeper approach, Kenan remodels the track into a meditative slice of progressive house. Complete with spacious basslines, hypnotic rhythms and vibrant percussive flurries, it's a smooth energy-rush to round out the release in style - one where Kenan operates at his creative peak.

With Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat making waves over the past 12 months, Proton Music is delighted to showcase "Spiral Patterns" with a high-profile remix from a Brazilian superstar.

From Cali, south-west of the Bogota capital, Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat have seen their career trajectory rise steeply over the past 12 months. With over 300 productions credits to his name, Sanclemente is no stranger to the underground production scene. Making a 2013 debut on Suite 7 Records, the Colombian has gone on to feature on a host of blue-chip imprints with Parquet, Einmusika and Perspectives Digital frequent supporters of his progressive sound. Indeed, it was with the latter that Sanclemente has had particular success. Centred around the "El Sol/La Luna" in collaboration with fellow countryman, Golan Zocher, October 2018's "Cosmosphere" saw a Sanclemente and Dabeat collaborate for the Darin Epsilon imprint. A regular on Particles, August 2017's three-track "Revelations" EP was followed by May 2018's "Eva". A remix of Imran Khan's "Arrival" saw the pair join forces for the first time on the label so it a pleasure to welcome them back with a debut original track. Oozing with class and a mature production style, "Spiral Patterns" builds upon a ticking percussive framework and strong beat as a cavernous glissando bassline provides depth. Evolving with consummate ease, rippling arpeggios emerge with a central melodic theme, opening up in filtered glory at the mid-point breakdown. A haunting lead reprises the melody post-breakdown and a chorus of pads add textured layers that leads to a rousing denouement in the third movement.

Some artists require no introduction and Brazilian icon, Andre Sobota, is one such artist. Responsible for a string of cross-genre hits that carry a unique flair for melody and rhythm, Sobota's meticulous attention to sound design and percussive detail has found him remixing Coldplay and Rihanna while making multiple appearances on BBC Radio 1. A production career that has witnessed some 500 production credits across a plethora of renowned labels has seen Sobota's work allied to the likes of Anjunadeep, Toolroom and microCastle, supported by A-list DJs, from John Digweed and Dave Seaman to Hernan Cattaneo and Eelke Kleijn. A welcome regular on Proton Music, December 2009's "One Day Out" EP set the tone for a half-century of tracks to light up the label with a glorious array of rhythmic variation and coruscating emotive melody. "Signal", "Fragments" and "Unmute" have all followed across the past three years, not forgetting a reinvention of his debut EP in 2014 with "5 Years Outside". A stellar collection of remixes have sat alongside the original material as Andre Sobota returns to rework Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat in typically impressive fashion. Using the central melodic themes from "Spiral Patterns", shimmering pads and motifs emerge, tied to an intricately programmed rhythmic groove. A rich bassline adds substance and depth as the tracks builds to its zenith via a stripped-back ethereal breakdown. Rising and falling effortlessly, Sobota's work is a class apart.

Flowing in constantly evolving circles, "Spiral Patterns" finds Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat flying high with Andre Sobota.
