I appreciate all the comments, likes and repost that you leave me in my compositions.

I make music for fun and to get away. I have multiple styles, although my biggest influence is in electronic music.

I am self taught and learned with Music Studio 2 on a first generation ipad 11 years ago. I have never composed before. Perform more than 80 songs a year for the first 6-7 years to learn about the program and develop creativity to compose. I have listened to different types of music throughout my life and maybe that has helped me.

I still compose only with an ipad (last generation), but I no longer work only with native MS2 instruments since I have expanded my instrument library with programs such as Audiokit, Digital D1, kv331, Sunrizer, etc ...

My music can be downloaded, but not used for commercial purposes (my authorization is required).

Zylinderkopf - aka Steven Wilson-Beales - released his debut album ‘Are You There?’ in 2023. In response to the covid crisis, it presented a variety of musical styles mixed together in an effort to  escape our collective trauma - blues-driven electronica, colourful pop ballads, basic four-to-the-floor wholesome techno goodness.  

Zylinderkopf’s influences are varied - from the electronic experiments of Holger Hiller to the psychedelic richness of Hawkwind or Fever Ray. ‘The point of Zylinderkopf is that there are no boundaries’ says Steve, wistfully gazing at his copy of Baudelaire’s Fleurs du Mal.


For his second album ‘Body:Soul’ released in 2025, Steve has worked with London-based artist/producer Third Son to put the finishing touches to his album. This time, Zylinderkopf takes aim at the futility of politics and the commodification of love. “I think a love song is the pinnacle of all good songwriting - it’s just that, when I write them, they come out as these weird dark electronic things.’ 

Zylinderkopf’s third album ‘A Quiet Prayer In a Time of War’ is due to be released in early 2026. This time, there’s no singing, just a collection of musical landscapes moving between Drum and Bass, Electronica and 80s synth pop. ‘Imagine Jean Michel Jarre going out on a big night with Daft Punk and Chris De Burgh - that’s basically what you’re getting.’

I'm still determined to continue producing music, the music of Pier Will, which can only be heard on Soundcloud and which can also be recorded... for now.

The world of music is rapidly moving towards a huge upheaval where the true musician will very quickly become "rare," or even more and more of a shadow, a peculiarity, a memory. This time is not so far away, as AI takes a predominant place in everything that touches us and surrounds us and in Music, this can already be heard very clearly!

Apparently, everyone is taking this lightly, and the few diehards are being sneered at as anti-progress terrorists, for now. I already have two work computers disconnected from the internet, which house my software and everything I need to work. No more updates for them to work properly... updates are only necessary if you need to connect! Another computer is dedicated solely to internet connection and will be used exclusively for streaming the tracks.

This decision has serious consequences for my production, as there are no more options to add anything to it. It's a gamble, but for me, it's an obligation to remain completely independent and free from AI.

Je suis toujours déterminé à continuer à produire de la musique, celle de Pier Will, que l'on ne peut écouter que sur Soundcloud et qui peut aussi être enregistrée… pour l'instant.

Le monde de la musique s'achemine rapidement vers un bouleversement majeur où le véritable musicien deviendra très vite « rare », voire de plus en plus une ombre, une singularité, un souvenir. Ce temps n'est pas si lointain, car l'IA prend une place prépondérante dans tout ce qui nous touche et nous entoure, et en musique, cela se voit déjà très clairement !

Apparemment, tout le monde prend cela à la légère, et les quelques irréductibles sont méprisés comme des terroristes anti-progrès, pour l'instant. J'ai déjà deux ordinateurs de travail déconnectés d'Internet, qui hébergent mes logiciels et tout ce dont j'ai besoin pour travailler. Plus besoin de mises à jour pour qu'ils fonctionnent correctement… les mises à jour ne sont nécessaires que si vous avez besoin de vous connecter ! Un autre ordinateur est dédié uniquement à la connexion Internet et sera utilisé exclusivement pour le streaming des morceaux.

Cette décision a de graves conséquences sur ma production, car il n'y a plus aucune possibilité d'y ajouter quoi que ce soit. C'est un pari risqué, mais pour moi, c'est une obligation de rester totalement indépendant et libre de toute IA.

Raw sounds are what I like most, and I prefer focusing on the vibration produced by the interweaving of complementary melodies rather than adding spectacular effects.
I have been a guitarist and singer in several rock bands. Meeting the audience in concert with my friends was exhilarating, but I had long wanted to lead a personal project.
All composition ideas in this project came to me while walking, a discipline that I am passionate about. City, Forest, Mountain, everything that can be walked makes me want to put one foot in front of the other.
I am pleased to present this project that could be classified in the Electro-Pop category, although some metal, ambient, Jazz or Funk colors frequently come to it, with measure but enthusiasm. I leave you to judge the consistency of the whole and the category in which you would like to put it.
Welcome to my world of walking musician, hoping to discover some interesting landscapes along the way.

I will sing at some point but this is the next step. I'll focus on creating music for now.
