A great and beautiful scene

Verse 1
One was a young martyr
Strong in faith and persevered
She lived with forty friends
The king's threats they never feared
Her father lost his way
But her faith led him to stay
My beloved St Demiana, the Princess of the heavenly (*2)
Quickly I ran to her
Her gaze was sharp and wise 
She urged me to remember To seek the heavenly prize

The next ones share a name
Though their paths were not the same
One left the world in place raised a child in her embrace
The other faced the enemy And triumphed in her bravery
My beloved St Marinas, the vessels of humility (*2)
Quickly I ran to them,
Their eyes were clear and bright
They urged me to remember 
To seek the path of Light

The fourth one loved to pray
Evil could not find its way
The mention of her name
Made Satan burst in flame.
Cyprian's magic failed
And in time his faith prevailed
My beloved St Justina, She fought in Christ's arena (*2)
Quickly I ran to her
Her prayer was deep and true
She urged me to remember 
To pray in all we do

This mother lived in sin
And strayed from Christ within 
The world would always tempt her
The church she could not enter
To the desert she fled
And lived for Christ instead
My beloved Egyptian Mary, her passions she did bury (*2)
Quickly I ran to her,
Her spirit was filled with glee, 
She urged me to remember, 
Repentance sets us free.

In the temple she grew 
In obedience and virtue
She bore the Son of Man 
To fulfill God's Holy Plan 
For us she intercedes
For all her children's needs.
My beloved St Mary, the Saviour she did carry (*2)

Her arms were open wide

English Translation:

O Christ, our God, You who wept over Jerusalem
Because it did not recognize the time of its visitation
And did not respond to the call of repentance,
Accept in Your tears the bitterness of my tears,
Heal my pains with Your suffering,
Soothe my wounds with Your wounds,
Sanctify my blood with Your blood,
Sanctify my body through receiving Your living body.
Kyrie eleison, Lord have mercy.

O You who stretched out Your body on the cross,
Draw to You my mind, which is misled by demons.
O You who bowed Your head on the cross,
Lift up my head, which has been shamed by the scorners.
O You whose most holy hands were nailed to the cross,
Bring me back from the abyss of perdition,
As Your most holy mouth has promised.

O You who accepted the slap and spitting on the face from the hypocrites,
Cleanse my defiled face from disgrace.
Do not let me stray from You,
For You surrendered Your spirit to the Father on the cross.

I have no contrite heart to seek You,
I have no repentance or humility to return me to innocence.

For my mind has been darkened by the worries of life,
And it cannot look up to You with grief.

And it can no longer be warmed with the tears of love.

But You, O Lord Jesus Christ, O Treasure of all goodness,
Grant me perfect repentance and a contrite heart,
So that I may go out seeking You,
For without You, I am a stranger to all prayer.

Grant me, then, Your grace, O Good One.
