One verse.

That's all you get anymore. You used to get one song, maybe even a full album, but in a modern age where the next song is just a click away, all a musician gets to convince anyone their music is worth its salt is that very, first, verse.

Where others saw defeat, musical artist and songwriter Dane Davenport saw a challenge. Operating by the belief that lyrics should grab you, music should transport you, and in a world with a seemingly endless selection of music to choose from, lazy songwriting is not acceptable.

Back before music was an industry, folk singers traveled the country on foot, rail, and rubber. Tying the country together by sharing songs and sounds, both new and passed down over generations. Since then folk music has continued to grow and has been fused with dozens of new genres and sounds. Born and raised outside Kansas City to the sounds of Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Tom Petty, Dane Davenport continues the folk tradition today by carefully combining the sounds of our musical forefathers with something new for the 21st century. These days you will find him traveling the world, working to fuse together the ideas, emotions, and sounds that unite us all, with a song.

Imagine the sonic signature of an artist whose early influences include Ella Fitzgerald, The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s,” Veruca Salt, Tool, ‘90s grunge and Hall & Oates. Of course, the customary next statement is supposed to neatly reveal that Rama Duke—the namesake of this bio—is that very vocalist.
 
But it’s not that easy. You are about to meet a musical tour de force all to herself. Rama is a singer and songwriter with the ability to wring every iota of emotion from a lyric… and in the next verse, roar with a delicious ferocity that makes one’s bones tremble. Ask Rama to define her style: “Loud, passionate and unapologetic,” she says. “I might call it ‘grunge soul’.”
 
As one of the initial signings to Los Angeles-based multi-media/music company 1520 Entertainment, founder and CEO Jared Lee Gosselin says, “The first time I worked with Rama some years ago, I was struck by her raw, limitless passion. She puts so much of herself into every note, word and phrase; with incredible respect—and awareness of—the context of the music and the arrangement. She also understands how to universally appeal to the audience.”
 
In fact, 1520’s launch single, an inspired re-rub of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 1992 smash “Under the Bridge,” is an ideal platform for Rama’s guts and gusto. In her commanding duet with lyricist Chino XL—who was once mentored by Rick Rubin—the song serves up its message of strife and search for redemption, recharged for a new generation.
The time is now. Signed to 1520, and working directly with Grammy-winning Jared Lee Gosselin, Rama Duke is at last able to express all, front and center. He says, “We’ve known each other for so long. I’m the lucky one here.” She adds, “For so long I was asked to fit a certain mold or sing songs formulated for radio. Jared gets me.”
 
As “Under the Bridge” mounts its campaign via radio and Spotify, social media, YouTube/Vimeo and the like, Rama is working with 1520 toward her long-lived missive. “It’s true, nothing comes close to rock for me, but I see the beauty in all music and, hey I’m good at it, so why not express myself wherever it feels real,” Rama says.
 
That includes contributing vocals to a number of targeted EDM tracks aimed to propel the genre beyond its increasingly wearying radio-ready generic vocal signature. Rama is also working on a full-length project with the band A Bad Day for Sorry. But foremost is her development with Gosselin.
 
“It has taken a few turns to get here, but this is the right time and place. I know I’m heading down the right road,” Rama says. “What matters most is reaching people and sharing my message of strength and perseverance.”

I've always felt like I needed to spread my musical lyrics to the world, I understand that not everyone will get the full meaning of my words, but if you take a moment to really listen and connect with the passion, soul and honesty of what is being said in each verse, you will start to get a full understanding of the kind of person I am. 

I feel that the the song sugar boy best describes where i'm in my musical career,  and its based on my last relationship with a real life sugar boy who did in fact rock my world.

I want to inspire all lovers out there to express their true feelings through song like me... and to end on a positive note ....all the single people out there if your listening in... I hope you too, find the pepper to your salt.

With a lineup and collective personality eerily similar to Fleetwood Mac on Quaaludes, Ledaswan should only get better as it ventures on to the wider scope of a full-length album - Album review S.A Current January 2008

Ledaswan produces and records their music, which paid off: Verse of Truth, Trash and Beauty won Best Album of 2007, voted by San Antonio Current readers. Lead vocalist Erica Gutierrez won Best Singer-Songwriter. The group is rounded out by brothers Jaime and David Monzon on guitar, Jackee on bass/backup vocals and Ricky Reyes on drums. Ledaswan's music is deeply textured, with lyrics and vocals ranging from ethereal to haunting. After the awards, working on a new album and helping organize local musicians, Ledaswan's momentum builds in 2009. Just returning home from a West Coast tour, the band continues to work on new material for a full length album, due early 2010. They'll also be rocking shows regionally, and plan to tour nationally in support of the new album.

Ledaswan came together over an urgent love for the Jesus and Mary Chain's echoed-stoned "Psychocandy," the fractured bass melodies of Joy Division's "Day of Lords," the sinister charm of Mazzy Star's "Halah."

Performing their very first show when they were invited to play at Emo's in Austin, TX for Ladyfest 2004, they've played with Lydia, Girl in a Coma, Miss Derringer, Nico Vega, Veruca Salt, the Umbrellas, Susan Gibson, Jeremy Enigk, and Jim Ward of Sparta.

Opening for large acts such as Shwayze, Mod Sun, Awol One, Ecid and Nappy Roots, Parlor Trix is Samson (Sam Miller), Tone (Anthony Garrido), Dot (K.C. Taylor), and Drix (Dallin Ricks). Parlor Trix represents much of what has been lost in contemporary rap music by blending underground bass-heavy all original music with raw lyrical talent. Dot, Samson and Tone being avid life-long Hip-Hop fans, respect those who had to put in work to achieve their musical status and their verse-heavy writing reflects that.

Dot was born in Denver, Colorado where he embraced hip-hop culture at a young age. He brought that attitude with him when he moved to Logan, Utah in 10th grade. Common interest brought him and Samson, who were raised in Logan together. Within no time and the rap duo was born.

Nothing was able to develop before Dot moved to Phoenix in 2008. He moved back to Utah in 2010 and reunited with Samson in Salt Lake City. Drix lived two houses away from Samson and suggested a musical collaboration. The three hit it off immediately and have been fine tuning their sound ever since. Later on Tone came into the picture when he started writing rhymes with the crew which resulted in him joining Parlor Trix.

Parlor Trix manages to hit that demographic somewhere in-between what is considered “underground” and “mainstream.” Their lyrics are not of the hyper-intellectual sort. Samson, Dot and Tone are frustrated storytellers and need only to share their stories to entertain listeners. Drix constructs every beat from scratch and his unique bass-heavy sounds are both catchy and unique.

As of now Parlor Trix is working on their debut album titled "4 Of A Kind" which will be released in Spring 2014. In the mean time they'll be releasing mixtape tracks here and there.

Hey everyone names Vandre originally from Richmond, Virginia. I've sang all my life and taught myself to rap by the age of 11. I find my inspiration from the beats and also my own personal experiences. Also a lot of my dreams and fantasies tie into a lot of my creativity as well. I'm always looking for new ideas, people to work with, and most of all constructive criticism. I want to grow as a person and an artist, but most of all I want to share my creations with the people of the world.
