The FAR OUTS (ex-The Happy Mediums) began as a side project to Brisbane’s Grand Atlantic as an outlet for songs that didn’t quite fit the format but still desperately needed a place to party. With influences ranging from the likes of The Kinks, The Sonics and The Easybeats, the group quickly established a reputation for their 60’s influenced Garage Rock - featuring blistering riffs, catchy choruses and drums akimbo. After a time spent on the backburner due to other pressing projects and useless distractions, The FAR OUTS are back with a new lineup, a debut album under their belt and a handful of itchy trigger fingers.
Jonny Pickvance (Blonde On Blonde / Mangels / Fingerless) has taken over the drums for the garage rock duo, after having been a part of Brisbane’s music scene for long enough to know better. He joins singer/guitarist Phil Usher (Sacred Shrines / Hillsborough / Screamfeeder / Sounds Like Sunset) to complete the ultimate party equation.
