Walrus and the Carpenter are a modern folk band currently residing in Mullumbimby, N.S.W. The project is the vehicle for the unique song-writing and vocal talents of  Matthew Engerer.
Many years of busking around the globe and more recently Australia, has given Matthew an honest, sometimes stark, but ultimately uplifting and refreshing creative perspective.
After having grounded in the Byron shire Matthew has found a kindred musical spirit in drummer/percussionist Mat Akehurst.
The combination of these distinct, yet seemingly symbiotic, musical voices and strength of songwriting, creates a communal and
 transcendent live music experience for both
 musician and listener. 
With the recent addition of Maria Stratton adding colour to the songs in the form of violin, mandolin and vocal harmonies and the well seasoned Al Brooker on the double bass, Walrus and the Carpenter have really started to gather momentum. With past performances at Splendour in the Grass and Mullum Music fest 2013-2014, they have now secured a spot for Falls festival 2014.
