Rain

Trying to get used to coming up with an idea and then just seeing where it takes me. Hoping my super basic music theory knowledge is ensuring that everything is in key, but it also makes me feel like I get a little limited on things. I just need to better understand all this stuff. I actually really like this one, may come back and make a full version another time after I've learned more about arranging.

If there is enough interest in my process, I have started recording myself creating some of my work. Mostly because I really want feedback. But editing is going to take forever so I need enough interest first.

Awake

Was going through the Cymatics 7-Day Beat-Making Challenge and made this little guy to help me with music theory on the bass and then creating drums and a melody to add to the sample they gave me. I think it's pretty cute.

Distances

Feeling a bit down today, found an incredible piano sample. I wanted to play with how to add new elements to a slow and minimal song without going too over the top. I know I have a few songs in my album that may need this kind of treatment.

Down

Got a bunch of free samples from Cymatics, found a chill Lofi one and then built it from there. I think I'm really getting a hang of hearing what I want it to sound like in my head and then being able to add to it in that way. Pretty cute mix.

I was just messing with Soundtrap and got some of the loops together to make this. Didn't take very long.

Here We Go

I haven't made anything since my album demo almost a month ago. Life got really busy so I had to stop making music. Getting back into it is always so hard, it's like I have to start all over again with all the progress I've made. So here I tried to just make something and I guess this is the best I've got right now. Started making something but instead made something else. Made all the drum patterns and MIDI stuff on my own, used a riser sample. Not really proud of the final product, but it's something.

I've been learning a lot from some amazing people and I've been really chewing on some stuff from the bands that inspire me. I'm trying to find my style so I'm experimenting a bit. Obsessed with the kick sidechain compression now. Actually kind of proud of this one.

Started with this idea of making a dark dubstep-synthwave mix. Then came back days later to aimlessly fumble with everything because of skill decay. Made one version of this thing, found better samples later so I re-arranged it to make another version. I think in the future I'll make a third version and then release them all together, but this is the second version. I just wish I had more time to do this stuff.

I don't even know. Only two hours of music stuff in the last 30 days and I'm losing it a little bit. Here's a thing.

Modern Card

I've been a songwriter most of my life, but just started learning how to produce music in 2022. I have no idea what I am doing, but I know I enjoy doing it, even when I make trash.

I upload everything I make during my learning process, in hopes that it'll show improvement over time and inspire myself and others of the journey to embrace something you love, regardless of your experience or talent.
