This piece is dedicated to a dear friend, Ash Finnigan 

Originally composed as a piano trio tune as part of a greater work in March of 2020, I arranged this for big band in September of 2021.

“Fleeing the Nest(ico)” is the third and final movement of Coleman Hovey’s “Tribute Suite.” This movement was attributed to Sammy Nestico and his tune “Night Flight.”

This piece was performed by the UMass Amherst Jazz Ensemble I, directed by Jeffrey W. Holmes.
