Śrī Rudram, also known as Śrī Rudraprasnaḥ, is a hymn offered to the all-pervading Brahman. Brahman is worshiped in her as Rudra-Śiva1, present in auspicious, kind forms as well as in terrible ones, which he assumes in times of dissolution and destruction of the cosmos.

Full Rudram

The Camakam is typically recited after the Namakam or the Rudrapraśnaḥ. In the Namakam, we offer our salutation and in the Camakam, we are asking for specific blessings. Glory be to Lord Rudra.

Camakapraśnaḥ

In this adoration, the devā-s offer salutations again and again, to the Devī who is in all beings as consciousness, intelligence, sleep, hunger, contemplation, power, forgiveness, modesty, peace, commitment, good fortune, compassion, contentment, error etc. At the end of this hymn, we realise Devī is literally our life.

Invocatory Mantras - Gaṇapati & Sarasvatī prārthana

This mantra is a prayer to the natural elements - Fire, Wind, Sun, Moon, Earth, etc to sustain the health of our organs and human body functions. Also known as the Śrī Rudram, this hymn is like an upaniṣad revealing the truth of the jīva, the individual, jagat, the world, and Iśvara. The words in the hymn with their simple meaning become a means for gaining eligibility for knowledge. This hymn is considered very efficacious in neutralising the result of wrong actions. The Śrī Sūktam is one of the more popular Vedic hymns, used extensively in ritual worship in temples and homes as well as a sādhana, or daily meditative practice of recitation for tuning into the energy of Lakṣmī, who stands for all that is beautiful, gracious and enriching in man and his surroundings.

Śri Suktam is now included in the Ṛg Veda, but is considered a pariśiṣṭa sūkta or a khila sūkta (an appendix) to the 5th Manḍala. Therefore, you will find in this hymn various possibilities for svara (idamittham) My recitation follows the teachings of my Guru from Trayee Veda Vidyalaya in Bangalore.
