Un Coin de Ciel Brulait (tr. Burnt a corner of the sky) is an attempt at emulating what heartbreak feels like. What pouring out love into a world that constantly rejects it feels like. As human being, we are all constantly looking for acceptance, on many different levels, and in this piece I have decided to address what a journey in search of romantic love can sometimes feel like. Disorienting, painful, poignant, melancholic but also soft, soothing, passionate, evident. This journey is a journey we willfully embark on every waking moments of our lives. 
This is the first movement.

Movements 1 - 4 From Six Miniatures After T.S.E. Four Quartets (solo piano)

The inspiration for this piece is best described by this paraphrase of a quote from Watchman Nee’s The Spiritual Man: 
 
“The trinity of spirit, soul and body may be illustrated by a light bulb. Within the bulb, which can represent the total man, there are electricity, light and wire. The electricity is the cause of the light while light is the effect of electricity. The wire is the material substance for carrying the electricity as well as manifesting the light. As electricity, carried by the wire, is expressed in light, so spirit acts upon the soul and the soul expresses itself through the body (bulb).” 
 
Those three elements are distinct yet indissoluble. My writing process for this piece was crafted around those strata by way of lines evolving and dissolving into each other. By way of physical and musical gestures connecting and disconnecting the players in a perpetual dance of pitches and timbres washed in a meditative inertia.
