Today on this podcast I jumped into the social media and digital content world. I took my four major social media handles and brought together all of my last five posts and their captions. I gathered these captions and put them into a website called Word It Out. This website is supposed to generate a mixture of words with some that stand out more than others that represent your social media and your lifestyles. Throughout this audio I highlighted points on what was surprising and how it did a good or bad job on representing my life and social media. I also talked about what it means to be professional on social media and how this can impact your life growing up and into the business world. Lastly, I went through the overall consistency of my posts and if I would change anything about them or if I would like to try something new in the future.

I recently took a deep dive and analyzed my most used social media platforms to see what kind of digital footprint I have left online. I was curious to see how I have been representing myself and if I was satisfied with the results discovered. I by no means am consistent when it comes to posting, and I tend to not focus on the frequency of my posts. The results of the audit were telling of my character, and I was a little surprised by the results. The perception portrayed of me on my accounts tells only a tiny portion of who I am. I don’t use all my social media accounts the same way. They all have their unique set purpose and are used to provide different forms of entertainment. Overall, I am content with my representation on my social media accounts and how I may be seen online.

Diving Into My Online Presence

In this episode of the Bobby Landy podcast, I go over how my word cloud art represents me. First off, I discuss what the larger words mean to me and whether or not I feel that they accurately describe me or if they are even frequent words that I tend to use. I found that it was almost a 50/50 split between the larger words as words like "lol" and "man" are frequently used words of mine and have merit behind them as I am a joyous person and enjoy laughing and having fun with my friends. ON the other hand though words like "nervous" and "hero" are words that I don't find myself using often and have no meaning behind them, as I tend not to get nervous in most situations, and when I do get nervous, I try not to let the nerves affect my state of mind. I also go into whether or not I am proud of my digital footprint and if it'll affect me in the future. Lastly, I talk about what I will try and remove from my social media posts and whether or not my posting frequency will increase or not, as I continue my life. I hope you enjoy listening, thank you.

A self-audit on me and my usage of social media apps. This Included SnapChat, X, and Lapse. I talked about how these apps affect my digital footprint and how I interact with these apps. When these apps are used they add to me as a person and my personality, but do they really represent me in the ways how I act in real life.

Finishing the interview let me have a deeper understanding of the mind and look at the issues of from my partners perspective of social media self-presentation and online behavior. Designing the interview questions took a lot of thinking about those key themes we have covered related to privacy, tracking, and data usage. The conversation proved to be of vital use as it made it plain how people handle the difficult task of ensuring that their online identities are well managed and at the same time one’s privacy is respected. Working with the audio recording was a great chance for me to extract the most essential moments of the interview and present them in a condensed story that shows the most significant items of our discussion. This combination of conducting the interview, restructuring the recording and reflecting on how the insights help widened my understanding of the various components of digital media systems and the influence of the community on the creation of a respectful and safe online environment. In general, the realization of this task made me understand the complexities around online behavior and underlined the necessity of critical thinking and making educated decisions in the era of technology.

A Peek at My Digital World

For this edition of Bray’s Sports Talk I decided to do something different than usual. I decided that I would talk about my digital footprint and reflect on it. Since I’m a freshman in college I decided it would be fun to reflect on what I post and how people can view it. The effect that it can have on me and how I must put myself in other people’s shoes and look at as if I’m an onlooker. How I feel about my post frequency and what I can do to improve before my senior year. Before I get myself out there and get a job. I don’t want my future bosses to look at me and say this or that is what you must worry about with this kid. I want them to be able to say this is a kid I want on my staff and on my team.

I conducted a peer interview about Colin Stocklin's use of his social media platforms and how he wants to communicate across them. We talked about what he wanted to express with his pre-professional logo, which was simple but eye-catching. We talked about his different use of social media platforms and how he determines what is post-worthy and which platforms get a specific type of posting. Social media has changed how we communicate today, and that was a topic I asked about in this interview. The lingo and what is posted today has a significant impact on this generation today which is very effective for your future. The importance of keeping your social media clean and how you want to be viewed was discussed a significant amount, since it can have an effect on jobs and how people view you. I appreciated Colin being so open and honest about expressing himself and how he uses his social media platforms.

I interviewed Zach to discuss our perspectives on social media audits, pre-professional logos, and the importance of personal online branding. During our conversation, I asked Zach several questions about his views on these topics and how they relate to his current social media presence.
