The Department of Gold is a band that existed for three powerful years in Portland, Or. We would occasionally get together to write music and perform, but mostly we hung out and laughed. This album, which will be released a few songs at a time, captures our time together.

The Department of Gold takes a "Soul Thunder Butter" approach to music and life:

3. Butter (the soothing, healing, and luxurious properties of love and music) 

Comprised of current and former members of The Stolen Sweets, Sassparilla and Cross-Eyed Rosie, The Department of Gold places the highest premium on collaboration and respect for the process of writing and performing. We wish to create a sound that inspires what has been knocked down in all of us to get back up again. 

The Dept is currently on hiatus as the Caffee-Frantz Associates work remotely from Chicagoland area, but the cross-country affection connection between ORD and PDX remains strong.
