In the current musical climate of coiffed hair, silk neck ties and jaunty hats we sometimes feel the need to come thundering back down to earth with a healthy crash. Luckily we have the likes of Behind Green Lights to get us there.

Behind Green Lights are a band with depth, honesty and more than a touch of realism. Borne from the strongest of East Manchester roots the band formed in 2004, following front man Aaron Atkinson’s lengthy stay in the USA made up of impromptu sets in some of NYC’s legendary bars and fisty cuffs with Bob Dylan’s bass player. The change effected in him during that time turned out to be enduring and infectious, spreading to the rest of the band and resulting in the complex yet spacious music we hear from them today.

Influences among the band are flung far and wide, ranging from Simon and Garfunkel to New Order, to Interpol, and Nirvana, culminating in an even more disparate collection of sound-a-likes. Comparisons with Interpol, Bloc Party, Television, and The Smiths have all been drawn.
