NARTHEX STRUCTURE - Paul, voc/guitar; Mike, drums; Tyler, bass. Formed: 1983.
Punk, Tragic-love - in the tradition of OG OC bands like Adolescents, TSOL, Descendents, early SD - Replacements,  and many others.
Started playing in Ventura/Oxnard in the early '80s as Narthex Structure. No Serenity(81-82), Ground Zero (82). We put out our own tapes and CDs over the years, recording/performing in Santa Cruz, SanFrancisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Hollywood, Ojai, Santa Barbara/Isla Vista, as well as hometown. 
Solicited for recording contracts by Doug Moody (Mystic), and Brett Gurewitz (Epitaph).  We declined Mystic, holding out for Epitaph, which was never finalized.  

** New vinyl release of first demo ("Simple Tones of..." cassette - 1984) is out now on Poison Well records!

This was also the name we used in the very beginning, before Narthex. 
We played at the now legendary Charlie's next to Ventura Pier, with bands like Ariel (Erik LeMaire's band), Something For Nothing/Pinching Judy, Shit Howdy!, Mudheads, Frankenstein, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Chris O'Conner's band??
All over Ventura, Oxnard, Anti Club in Hollywood, Santa Cruz.   

SIREN - formed 1994.
Paul, voc/guitar; Joe Lombardo, bass; Steve Howard, drums.
Recorded at the Sandbox and Sunset Sound in Hollywood.  Played some shows around Ventura, and 1 night at the Roxy before disbanding.  Short run!

STILL MORE LATER - Paul, voc/guitar; Wes Miller, bass; John Coffman, drums.  Formed 1995.
Recorded at SnM Studio in Goleta with Corey and Ernie Orozco.  
Played many shows around Ventura, opening for Stiff Little Fingers, Nada, and played the Fix Way clubhouse a few times...
We were on a radio station in Ventura a few times, but they didn't last....
This was a fun project!  They all were!!
Narthex Structure returned in 2001, with Paul, Mike T, and Wes.  Played several shows: including Edwina Cruz benefit in Oxnard with Dead Kennedys, Agression, and many others; twice at Ventura Theater with X.
Our last recording was at Signal Street Sound in Ojai.  Engineered by Dave Anter.
Narthex Structure continues to play in California several times each year.  Current lineup is Paul on vocals/guitar, Pat Bakody - rhythm guitar, Paul Shinn - Bass, Aaron Abelt - drums.  
Honored to play Nardfest 2024 and the Casbah in San Diego with original Stalag 13 friends, Ron Baird and Blake Cruz!  Locals Only-Poison Well Records Festival at Hong Hong, and the Sewer, and at Low Key Tattoo in Ventura.

In 2025, Undermind Audio will release a full album of new music from Paul Miller and friends, under the name x/2 +7.  Single is available now on all streaming platforms.  Video of Back to Analog directed by Steve Hanft, featuring skating legend Christian Hosoi!  This project has only played in Portland, OR, so far.  Paul on vocals/guitar, Evan Vincent - bass, Eric Rubalcava - drums.  Dean Miles was gracious enough to step in to play the Portland show....  Stay locked in for more info on this project.

I’ve been in the right place at the right time,
i’ve also been in the wrong place at the wrong time

Just me and a couple of friends writing, recording, and collaborating on music, or other projects in the arts. And, when possible, working creatively towards a common cause or charity,

We call our collective group of musicians, artists, writers, producers, photographers, mask makers, puppeteers, aerialists, and poets the Hallelujah Sunshine Cult, and for this project I’m the designated cult leader, lol. Dano Capristo on drums for tons of stuff, as well as handling most of the videography, and my chief collaborator. Some additional drum and percussionists appearing in the HSC  include Ian Engelsman, Cory West, and Pete Romano. Other guitars include Michael Pieretti, Addison Elliot, Travis Forencich, Dylan Welsh, Erik Rex, Paul Billbrough, Joe Adams, Anthony Medici, Ty Durbrow, and probably other peeps I’m forgetting. Additional vocals include Gordon Glover, Jamie Iwata, Michael Pieretti, Erik Rex, Joe Chiusano, Joey Annaruma, and Elsie Black.

Collaborating with these people, albeit remotely for the vast majority of stuff, was a life saver for me during the pandemic’s lockdown phase, which was when most of these tracks first began. Being able to work with other musicians at that time helped stave off the fear of the unknown and a monotony￼ that felt like Groundhog’s Day. A great distraction, if nothing else.

After a few big life changes which put the project on hold for over a year, I recently had time and space to finally get these finished up. The first release entitled “general mayhem” is posted, with two additional releases in the works. Thanks so much to everyone who gave their time and talents.
