John Wilbye's “Weep O Mine Eyes” is a heartfelt and deeply sensitive madrigal in which the speaker pleads for the cathartic release of tears. To us, the song is a reminder that grief is not to be skipped over, but lived, just like all other emotions.

Inspired by a poem from René François Sully-Prudhomme, 19c. French composer Gabriel Fauré paints a musical picture with « Les Berceaux ». The song blends tenderness and anticipatory grief, with words describing an inevitable day of goodbyes. The sailors are torn between adventure on the high seas and staying behind with their loved ones. We can hear the heartbreak of the women left behind as the men ultimately choose to leave

Chorale Musaïque - Be Like The Bird

We knew Dolly Parton was a good songwriter, but we didn’t expect to be as moved as we were with “Light of a Clear Blue Morning”. It’s the song we needed to hear, hold and sing right about now. 

Here’s how it came to be: Early in her career, Dolly spent seven years as the co-host of the PorterWagoner Show. Although a successful team, their  relationship became increasingly volatile as her popularity rose and eventually eclipsed Wagoner's. Dolly’s progressive decision to break their creative partnership and branch out on her own did not sit well with Porter. Arguing late into the night, she left their last meeting in tears. As she drove home in the pouring rain near dawn, Dolly was distraught, still crying and re-evaluating her career decision. Suddenly, the rain stopped and the clouds seemed to part before her as the sun rose. The phrase "I can see the light of a clear blue morning" popped into her head and she wrote the rest of the song on that drive, firmly believing her future was full of new possibilities. Dolly’s song of hope and resilience keeps us looking to that horizon, too. #DollyParton
