Mr. Doom was one of the many ideas for a "name" for the kind of music that I make. This was the theme song for the project that eventually became Dr. Butcher. I suppose it was a better name than Flopmaster Squanch, or the Rhythm Boobs. This version didn't make it to the second collection, and I regret not including it - this one is much better.

Mr. Doom

Love Is Just A Word was one of the first "songs" that I covered using sample-based music making materials. I tried to stay true to the original recorded version (William Weber, Steve Ostrov, Mike Huegen), while making it my own, as well. If I were to do it today, it would probably be slower, and even MORE bizarre. I still laugh at the words, every time I listen to it... as will you.

Technical Difficulties

Is it the room where the music is made, the space inside of my skull, or some sort of nightmarish zoo? I don't know.

This one sounds like I was slightly influenced by the "Blackout" era of Alice Cooper material - absurdly ominous, or somesuch.

Little Room

I've been trying to get this song shared, in ANY form, since I've been using social media. Epic FAIL, until now. Tracy Thielen was a nice guy, and a great musician. He contributed much of his work to the Art Damage show, and received MUCH airplay. One evening, during my slot, the doorbell light went on, and I was very surprised to see Mr. Thielen standing before me - all the way from California for a visit! Of course, The Christmas Song (and MANY others) have been in "heavy rotation" on my Art Damage episodes, until the very end. The Christmas Song is not mine. I am sharing it for entertainment purposes, only. It is great, as was Tracy Thielen.

The Space Age

I wanted to do a piece that portrayed time as the ultimate predator - forever on the prowl, ceaselessly stalking. A demo was recorded with vocals, but it did not reflect how I envisioned the final result. Hopefully, I will eventually get the right sound on the vocal track, and get the finished version out there - until then, here is the instrumental-only version of the song.

Prey (unfinished)

Based on the same idea as "Dumb All Over" (by Frank Zappa) - except I decided to write the song about exploring the idea of selling a place of worship by making it more accessible to a wider audience - in this case, a swinging dance club.  It all ends up being rather sarcastic, of course, and the music only reinforces that notion. Please forgive the lengthy intro - this piece was originally going to be the opening track on my second CD of recorded material.

Mood Swings

This is the VERY FIRST Dr. Butcher piece recorded. It went through a mess of experimentation before I finally abandoned it. I finally settled on some samples that I ganked from the "Visitors From Outer Space" album, which I find incredibly entertaining.

Pulse

This is the most beautiful, listener-friendly piece that I ever wrote about the BLACK DEATH. I'm still waiting for its eventual return. Are you? Perhaps, I should write one about the next ice age? No? I probably shouldn't write at all. Feh.

Plague

One of the very few Green Door pieces that I resurrected as Dr. Butcher - written by Brian Gomien, Greg "Doc" Wagner, and Chris Lockhart. This version varies from the original, but I've always admired its all-encompassing weirdness, regardless of how it is heard.

Another (somewhat) unfinished instrumental. I wanted a TV-movie-of-the-week-type-feel for this piece, but I didn't get to the weird sound collage part of the process. I'll get around to it eventually, I suppose - or I won't.
