Following up his debut ‘Shimmer Raga’ on Hush Hush Records, Zoltan expands on his distinctive pointillist compositions, continuing to explore simplicity and limitation.

French composer Melaine Dalibert has before quoted Deleuze, referring to his own compositional practice as working on (and with) the behaviour or "space-time blocks". Here his philosophy unravels specific to the covid-19 pandemic; a beautifully spare and minimalist solo piano work, taking the form of a 20-minute long rallentendo which reflects the drop in tension that we are experiencing.

After a 3 month hiatus of physical releases, we’re delighted to have come through the other side to be able to resume our schedule of vinyl-effect CDrs. The catalog resumes with ‘Below’ by Cologne, Germany’s Jens Pauly, an artist whose album ‘Vihne’ was released by us last year.

Vihne is a ‘city’ album, full of dust and artificial light whereas Below is more free and open as it was inspired by the natural world. The cover image was taken by Jens last Autumn and in this record, he tried to reflect the peaceful moments he experienced during this time. There’s a calmness to the sound underpinned by a satisfying melancholy, as we take in these breezy reflections.

Below perpetuates the subtle beauty of a timeless moment. It's fragile, and yet, in all its reduced textures, it's demanding in its overall emotional undergrowth – closely intertwined in hope and yearning.

Sammie Ray Vaughan is probably the most unknown blues guitar player out there, really doesn't like to boast and show off, never plays a solo, keeps to himself. A model of modesty really. So little is known about him except for the occasional leaked recording...

So when he approached  me to perform a duet, I was a bit hesitant, you know, I'm like an ambient wanker and used to long form, erm, formless stuff. In this outfit I'm called The Exponential Trouble, and it's what I do, I add shit up until it messes the whole thing. 

Not sure we're ever gonna play together again, he's so elusive, Nevertheless, it was a fun session and here's a testament to it.
