There’s something about a confident MC that is contagious. Whether it’s the swag of their look, or the flow of their rhymes, portraying self-assurance always equate to a win – especially in the rap game. Starrz is no exception. “Stars exist where no one can really reach. I like to stay in a place no one can reach with my music. I want to be the next hot thing before people even know what it is.” The Baltimore, Maryland master of ceremonies hails from humble beginnings, but his name says it all.

The Fugees album The Score, first caught Starrz’ attention at the age of eight, but it was Mase’s Harlem World where Starrz was first introduced to the over-confidence we hear in his rhymes currently. Particularly appealing to the aspiring words worth was Mase’s braggadocios flow regarding capturing the interest of another man’s girlfriend. Stylistically, Mase, Biggie and Puff Daddy infused the energy that fused the lyrical content Starrz captures to elevate as a self-assured rapper.

After studying his rhyme craft, the bug first bit Starrz at the age of fifteen. It wasn’t until the age of eighteen when he really began to develop as an artist. “I’m the voice of the kid who didn’t believe he could do it, who loved music and loved expressing himself,” boldly proclaims Starrz. The self-professed backpacker/ skateboarder boasts that the art of rap is what feeds his creativity. Easily, the old adage – if you do what you love, the money will follow – comes to mind.

A basketball star in high school, Starrz loved the game but didn’t love the books. It was after he decided to leave his college hoop dreams behind and focus on his rhyme pursuits that people began to notice. Nigel McIntosh and Living Proof Records began working with Starrz to really initiate his career in the rap game. Together they created The Best Mixtape Ever which amassed rave reviews in the Baltimore area and beyond. Enter Tamba Hali and Religion Records. A hip-hop rock tune entitled “Dance All Night” caught the attention of Tamba and thus began the Living Proof Records/Religion Records relationship. The de-stress record aims to be a release for all the listeners to focus on the present moment and leave the worries for another day.

The lane Starrz has created from himself is one of an aggressive hustle and a lot of hard work to bring his concept records to life. “I want to make you feel my records in every way possible,” says Starrz. “The brand of hip-hop is about making good music. There’s a way to touch the hood without making hood records. I write about what I see to stay true to myself,” proclaims Starrz. It was Starrz persistence with his music that finally paid off. “I kept drowning Baltimore with the internet, blog sites, release parties, performances, networking – anything to get Starrz seen, because once you do you’ll remember it.” Clearly Starrz embodies the fulfillment of aiming high, because if you land amongst the stars, it’s really not all that bad to be in a class all by yourself.

Starting from his childhood, Pitt Leffer proved a special sympathy for harmony and an approach to the serenity of a balanced living. Surrounded and integrated in a natural environment characterized by a fascinating beauty, his first years were the impulse for appreciating the Universe as an exponent of a perfect creation. 

This love for all that made him  followed the years of high school at the Orthodox Theological High School from Bucharest and continued at the Orthodox Theological Faculty. 

This route with great satisfaction helped him to develop and cultivate a rare musical talent and an outstanding voice. The prodigious work in different religious music choirs represented another defining item for his actual stage presence.

Bearing in mind the duty regarding the development of his musical talent, Pitt Leffer followed singing classes with the best names in this field, being thoughtful about special techniques of interpretation and not least, about a close learning of different musical genres.

His theoretical and practical training was doubled by an intense activity in the field of dance and stage presence, issues of great importance for the image of a complete artist.

In a world constantly changing,  Pitt  talks about life,  harmony and balance, sensibility and love without which we could lost our identity and invites us to enter in a new world, where we can discover the real priorities underlying our existence. 


For his first single ’Be my lover’ Pitt worked with Adi Cristescu , a known producer in Romania and it received a very good feedback from radios and public. Dj Yaang & Aisa , 2 known Dj’s officialy remixed  ’Be my lover’ and for a period of time , both versions where played on radios and clubs.  

Pitt continues to record songs and collaborate with different producers and Dj’s: Lucian Base , Groovebox, Paul Turcu ( Flyinstate) .

’ I love you’ ft Lucian Base is his second single and the video will be released very soon.



MISHOO THE DRUMKIT 

Rwanda, the land of the thousand hills is the birthplace of MC/Producer Mishoo the Drumkit who is releasing his first EP as a solo artist these days.

Born Michael Rugamba Negele, to a Rwandan mother and German father in Kigali, Mishoo was first exposed to African music by artists such as Pepe Kallé and Fela Kuti. It wasn’t until his family moved to Tübingen, Germany that he got into hiphop. He began writing poems at fourteen which turned into penning rap lyrics shortly after, influenced by the likes of HeavyD, Common and Wu Tang Clan’s “Enter the 36 Chambers” LP.

Little time after that, in 1998 he founded the group A-Scholars with DJ Madsen and Producer JP aka Kutty Sark, which would eventually result in the production of the album “Mastermind” around 2002, a collection of soulful, jazzy beats and personal storytelling raps. The production allowed for Mishoo to develop his skills as both an MC and songwriter providing smooth vocals carried by his low voice. Around that time he also co-founded a weekly hiphop event in his hometown Tübingen along DJ Sebastian Pohlmann thus providing a new forum for the local hiphop scene and helping local artists to connect. One notable result is another project of Mishoo’s – “The Sagitarians”, a collaboration of his with producer Jewelz. In 2006 he realized an idea he’d long had, namely forming a live band to perform A-Scholars material with instruments being heavily influenced by the type of sound of the Soulquarians or Roy Hargrove. 

When moving away from Tübingen for studies, Mishoo concentrated on beatmaking and production but stayed busy as an MC collaborating with plenty different producers from all over the world, some of whom he’d only connected with through MySpace and other music networks much like how “The Foreign Exchange” LP came together, logically one of Mishoo’s favorite albums.

Coming back to the basic idea, “Born in the Land of a Thousand Hills”, as the title of his new EP reads, is very much a documentary of the path Mishoo the Drumkit has traveled as an artist and a person as he mostly draws from his own life experiences, incorporating his growing up in both Africa and Europe, his travels or people close to him in his music.
“Born in the Land of a Thousand Hills” features an array of young artists that crossed Mishoo’s path over the years, such as producers Comfort Fit, Portformat, Hubert Daviz, Elaquent, Duktus, Swede:art, Drumatic, and MCs/vocalists Dutchmassive, Mr. Nnaji and Shuanise with DJs Madsen and Mawdee  contributing cuts and scratches.

The sound is truly soulful, yet with an often electronic approach inspired by the distinct Detroit sound of producers like J Dilla and Karriem Riggins; …however every track has a certain abstract twist to it while never forgetting its Hip Hop roots – Mishoo calls it ‘electro soul’.

“Born in the Land of a Thousand Hills” will be available at www.mishoothedrumkit.com. Release date is the 4th of January.

Songbird ILana Lorraine, An Artist/Songwriter/Producer and Community leader who began songwriting at 10 years old and kept her musical talent hidden as she built her career within the Music and Entertainment Industry helping other talent and bringing people together.

She’s been a Guardian of Bespoke, Historic Homes; a Promoter of Iconic, Global Music Careers; a Curator of the Fairytale in Hampstead Heath during Lockdown Times, and now she is back to make yet another dream a reality.

Ilana’s singing voice and songs became a mantra and call out to passersby as she sang overlooking a lake in her lockdown initiative “The Fairytale” to keep music alive and bring serenity to the public in the Summer of 2020. It bloomed into a safe haven for the local community in  London infamous Hampstead Heath and got imprinted and recorded in history when it got written as a full chapter in the book The Heath, written by The Beatles Biographer Hunter Davis and published last year.
