      A FILM MAKER AND PRODUCER, JAMES WESLY SMITH'S FIRST INCURSION INTO FILM WAS THROUGH writing HIS AWARD- WINNING "WITH JUST A LITTLE TRUST", FOR THE FRANCISCAN COMMUNICATION CENTER. THE PROJECT WON A FIRST PRIZE AT A 1970s VIRGIN ISLAND FILM FESTIVAL.
    Subsequent to the effort and a respite at Loyola University's Communication Arts curriculum (in screenwriting and TV- Film), Smith produced a myriad of programs and projects for the African Root, Latin rite, Oriental Church(Black Catholics, African, and Oceania Catholics ,including a "Missa Africanus", with his brother Ron.
      His previous efforts embraced music, first as a single artist before joining bands, such as the Del Reys ("Don't You Know", and "Rosiland". 
       A former " real" Motown musician (Detroit), auditioned by the famed Maurice King, and hired by the more famed Harvey Fuqua, who several years prior,  had been partnered with Smith's first manager, Danny Sanford Coggins, in forming the Moonglows singing group. KISMET!
      Smith auditioned for  Gladys Knight and Pips ("Grapevine" years), but played with Originals, Spinners, David Ruffin , Jimmy Ruffin, Martha and Vandellas, among others. Johnny Otis bassist, early '70s, then  David Clayton Thomas'-- mid 70s. 
     A LA recording session musician/producer in the '60s, '70s, Del Rays, and artist again, "Talking 'Bout Women" smash UK, and others,  before moving on to law, and retiring.
