This song speaks to the profound loss and confusion of discovering that the one you love hasn't been happy for years but never communicated it.  Like a sudden fire that burns your house down, they never saw it come their way.

I struggle with OCD so this song speaks to that aspect of being tied up in my head, but also more broadly it speaks to anyone with the constant thoughts in their heads that no one is aware they are thinking while seeming to be just fine on the outside.

I recently found myself on an unwelcome journey (cancer)so I had to remind myself that mercy and goodness are going to follow me and I remain in God's love even as I walk through the shadow lands.

Like anyone who writes songs, you hope the lyrics will resonate with someone in similar circumstances, a humble gift of words that give voice to their journey.
