PREMIERE: Franz Scala - Light Year Run [ Slow Motion ]

Preview of the remake of the Highscore tune for the Commodore 64 videogame "Hawkeye" for the upcoming album "Tel Me More".

Composed in 1986 at age 14 and published by Thalamus in 1987. The game was developed by my friends the Boys Without Brains (BWB).

This was always one of my personal favorites and I felt it was the most accomplished short tune I composed for a C64 game.

I got reminded to remake this tune a lot in the many years passing since. When my friend and producer of many years, Joe Bonar, reminded me of it recently, I decided to drop working on all the other songs for a while and work on this one non-stop.

In the series of doing famous game soundtracks and songs on various older sought after synths and modules, I give you the original Duke Nukem 3D Theme, done entirely on a Roland Super JX (except the drums of course). I had a little slow start on this one, and it was mainly due to trouble programming sounds on the MKS-70 and that Lee Jackson's original contains a bit of muddy phrasings causing a lot of rumble in the low frequencies. I took the liberty of cleaning those up and change them slightly and adding some extra parts to give the song some length. Ah, well... what's done is done. Hope you enjoy this version too and have a good time whacking those aliens that take or women! Time to kick some serious ass, and remember to bring enough gum!

In 1988 Adobe released Illustrator 88 (originally v. 1.7, but this was the public name). My good friend, Alexander Brandon shared this old video with the demonstration of all the features Illustrator had at the time, and the music was so catchy that I felt the urge to do a revamp, or sort of remix.

Now, when I had finished my revamp and extrapolation of the parts that weren't there, I of course found the FULL Adobe Illustrator presentation, which of course came with the complete song and more late 80s corporate synth pop music. A short experimentation after taking a few courses on writing for an orchestra. I just might be starting to understand a little how to write for different sections :)

Long-term musician as keyboardist in the Swedish hard rock band "Astral Doors". 
He has lived his dream over the last 15 years. Played great festivals like Wacken Open Air, Bang Your Head, Sweden Rock Festival and many more. He has toured all over Europe with the band, and released 9 studio albums since 2003.
He has always loved synthesized music, preferably with retro sound. So he thought: "Why not try to make some synthesized retro-tunes on my own?" Ok! Said and done :)
