Powerfully primed for the bass-favoring ranks of electronic music, South Central has proven to be one of the genre’s most unconventional kingpins. A live dance outfit driven to spit in the face of 21st century dance music’s comfort zones, their tremendous sound has mustered incredible landmarks across the globe. Now taking the industry by storm on their own unique terms, these Brighton, UK-based trailblazers really are the unapologetic face of eclectic bass culture that modern dance music has been praying for. 

Emerging with the ability to unite versatile productions and a stubborn track record for live dance redemption, their collaborative efforts have benefitted from a double-edged approach to dance floor dominance. Drawing influences as broad as metal, house and classical music, that fusion of big band energy and coherent dance values remains untouchable. Forget the cookie cutter ranks of dub step and its various offshoots – when South Central strike up, their impact is always felt. 
Armed with three genre-defiant EPs for Dim Mak and successive offerings for Ultra and Big Fish Recordings, their ability to bring new noise to prolific imprints has had the bass-savvy masses gasping for air from day one. Treating their productions as a relentless yet intimate science that opts for innovation over repetition, their middle-finger stance has earned them some serious industry credentials along the way. With a nod of approval as dignified as The Prodigy behind them, this antidote to electronic dance saturation looks to be turning all the right heads.  

Such a versatile sound was always going to wreck havoc on the club floor. Connecting crowds with a focus on upfront energy over meaningless pyrotechnics, South Central remains the center of every one of their adrenaline-fuelled performances. Count tour duties alongside The Prodigy, pendulum, DJ Fresh and Jaguar Skills, plus supporting slots for the likes of Rage Against The Machine and Vitalic and their live capability remains a vital modern dance crossbreed to the industry’s ever-expanding floodgates.

These remorseless antics are showing no signs of slowing on the approach to 2014. Between a remix package for their infamous Hollywood EP, a welcome return to Dim Mak with the Run Hide Survive EP and a peak in attention towards their own Mad Music imprint, the next twelve months look to remain as loud, proud and provocative as we have come to expect from this cutting edge duo set to defile dance music’s safe zones beyond repair.

In a far away land, The Sultan is grieving over a lost love. As the days go by, the throne is absent of a clear-minded leader, and The Sultan is graying with sorrow. Priests are useless. Family is distant. Friends become absent. Against the better judgement of his most trusted peers, The Sultan sends runners to far away lands to seek a solace. After a year of fruitless search, a robed figure appears at the gate of the ancient city walls.

Enter: The Necromancer.

The figure is from a distant kingdom, completely shrouded in mystery, trusted by no one but a weary and rapidly aging leader. She is thought to be a follower of a terrible black magic. Someone who is so close to evil that the air becomes cold when the witch is near. Surrounded by an energy so dark that stray dogs squeal in fear, and plants shrivel and die when she walks by.

The Sultan can no longer see reason. The Sultan becomes obsessed with the idea of his precious love being restored in life. The Necromancer finds her way into the chambers of the king. As The Sultan begins to forget about his loss, he becomes lost himself. The Necromancer seemingly vanishes into thin air upon their meeting, at the relief of many.

Since the disappearance of the witch, some say that the the eyes of The Sultan are absent; soulless. Some believe that The Sultan disappeared with The Necromancer, leaving behind a shell of a once great king. Still, others believe that whatever happened behind his chamber doors, a curse would be with his people forever, for the darkness that he selfishly accepted into his kingdom.

About the EP "Grief in Three" 

This album is about the beauty, the pull and the dissonance of grief.  And love.  Each of these songs were written at a distinct juncture in the process of grieving the death of a loved one.  And love.  And the power of music to heal and transform as well as wound and bite.  

A word about the source of this work and the origin of Soar. 
On March 16, 2016, Pedro "Shambho" Perez-Cabezas chose to end his life and living. That night, Ash ended her shift at the deli at 10:00PM, Ash spoke to his childhood best friend, Michael. He didn't say what had happened but shared that he was dead and that his father had been the one to find him. That night, she walked home from Williamsburg to Crown Heights, Brooklyn at a snails pace, landed in her bed and slept through the night like an immoveable stone. The next night, she dreamed. She dreamed of a family of folk musicians. In the dream, she began singing the chorus to "Soar," and each time the song became sad or defeated the folk-man, sitting on her right smacked her on the arm. "No," he said, "that's not what this is for." She continued to sing, as she reached the chorus again, the family of folk-musicians and their warm living room disappeared and she was singing out into the horizon, standing at the shoreline, as a seagull flew from her and disappeared into that horizon. She thought, "Maybe that's him," and "Goodbye." That morning, she woke up with the chorus of the song in her mind and, over time, pulled the rest of this song out of that semi-wakeful state. 

Ash says, "everytime I play this song, I have chills all over my body. I have played in live events where the moment I started to play this song, children ran up to the platform with money, stuffing it into plastic cups they found on the ground. The song sits in the break in my voice and it is nearly impossible for me to sing it well or anywhere near as strongly as I do the other songs on this EP. It's good not to be strong sometimes." 

There is a moment in the recording of this song when, after a long and sustained build, everyone cuts out but the keys and bass. "This moves me, especially," she says. "Douglas P. Murphy (our bassist and the EP's co-producer) and I met in 2017. He asked me if I was related to Jack Straw from Witchitaw and a mutual love, respect and profound appreciation began. Initially, it looked like I would work with Doug on his material.  And then, after dropping in on one of our Dark Blue rehearsals, Doug shared that his father had committed suicide that summer. 

This album is not about grieving the loss of someone whose committed suicide, explicitly. And, even though it's not explicitly about that, there are moments where the unique questioning and pain associated with that experience peeks out of the music. This music is for all of us; it's for you and it's for me. It's an experience. And we hope you are moved by it.

Bot is of the future. Half man, half-machine; fully Italian. Exiled in West London, locked in the studio since departing legendary duo Crookers, Bot (his creators named him Andrea Fratangelo) has disassembled any expectations and rebuilt his sound for 2018. 

Since forging his new solo path, Bot has prepared half a dozen releases to deliver throughout 2013. The first, "Vamos / Go Down" EP was hastily snatched by Steve Aoki's Dim Mak label and released in March. His 2nd release, 'Indastria 2028' followed in May on his own label Main Course (with partners Astronomar & Neoteric). Next up are 2 smashers for Blood Music (Trails/One Hour) which will see the light in July and have since debuted in Fake Blood's Fabric Live 69 compilation. To round out the year, Bot joins the crew at Southern Fried once again, to drop the "Friday Pulse" EP and remixes, featuring the legendary Robert Owens. On top of that, more music from Bot and friends is being prepared for Main Course, and he's stayed busy remixing the likes of Diplo & Wiley. One thing is for certain; there are no plans to slow down!

Futuristic techno and unorthodox club rhythms are welded with hip hop influences, and a nod to the sounds and sprit of classic house. What we have here folks, is the new tomorrow.

Detroit has long been a hub for electronic beat lovers and speaker freakers, but Golf Clap’s Hugh Cleal aims to lead a new generation. For nearly a decade, he’s hustled the project and its Country Club Disco label to the forefront of house music’s funkiest dimensions. The project (formerly a duo with Bryan Jones), works tirelessly to conjure a palpable energy, one fans can feel at every gig, be it a hot-and-heavy club set or an energetic takeover of a festival stage. Golf Clap feeds off the crowd, spinning the hottest songs of the moment while breaking new records - and this isn’t any press play, hands in the air fair. You're likely to hear a lot of cutting up between facefulls of funk and bass. 

Fueled by a relentless passion, when Cleal isn’t behind the decks, he’s likely pulling all-nighters in the studio. Bodies dancing in real-time is an addiction, but when it comes to original productions or high-profile remixes, Golf Clap wants to create something for every moment. Recent singles “Freak It Out” [Country Club Disco] “Mystery Scene” [mau5trap/Insomniac] and “Gravitate” [Toolroom] showcase their deft and dark grooves, while 2018 EPs  Vices  and  Machines  showcase club-ready attitudes. High-profile remixes for Zeds Dead and Illenium, Zhu and Tame Impala, Louis The Child, and Hotel Garuda give the music makers a chance to showcase stylistic variety. 

While 2020 has been a year of great change, Cleal has never stopped working. With loads of new tunes in the wings and a dedication to the Country Club community, Golf Clap is and always will be, in his own words, “about creating a community.”

There are quite a few Sishi Rösch stories that have been making the rounds, but the best one is perhaps the one about a DJ/producer from Guatemala who managed to catch the eyes and ears of some of the most famed leaders in underground music from around the world like Soul Clap who released his track Serious Compassion on their compilation album and most recently legend, Steve Lawler who signed his latest EP on ViVA MUSiC and dance music icon Heidi also signing him to her infamous label Jackathon Jams.

And such fortunes today do not come merely by a twist of fate or luck; rather several factors including a relentless dedication to ones’ art, a natural and verifiable magic that occurs when one is delivering music with a level of passion that could better be defined as a “sonic obsession”, one who refuses to rely on trends to teach them something rather one who uses their own mind, heart and intuition to guide their path.

This formula that undoubtedly lead to Sishi’s recent emergence into the limelight.

When Rösch began his production career in 2007, he steadily built up a prolific and impressive discography of acid house, ghetto house and hip-hop jams that are best described as nasty, murky, lusty, saucy, coarse, infectious and raw - always giving a wink and nod backwards to some of the forgotten Chicago House and west coast rap days of late 90s and early 00s.

Since then, he has released on noteworthy labels such as One Records, No.19, Exploited Records and Get Physical to name a few. Not to mention being label owner to four labels: Raw Rhythms Limited, Digital Delight, Sultry Vibes and Close Encounters.

Sishi’s pure and fresh DJ sets exemplify his ease for effortlessly delivering whatever his heart is feeling at that moment . . . his fascination and hunger for the dance floor has taken him around the globe outside of South America. Sishi has had the opportunity to spin several times at the famous Sonar Festival in Barcelona as well as Winter Music Conference in Miami plus many other hot spots in Europe, North America and beyond.

One thing is for certain is that a limitless and bright future awaits Sishi –  a steadfast vision to revive quality sounds from the past with a contagious, vibrant vibe and spirit... the Sishi Rösch stories just keep getting better.
