CSN Self-Guided Audio Tour (All Campuses)

Also known as the Ralph and Betty Engelstad School of Health Sciences, the K-building was named in honor of the Engelstad Family Foundation. This was the first-named school at the college and is home to many health science programs including the  Cardiorespiratory Sciences Program and Nursing Program. The K-building features a student lounge, classrooms, a computer lab, examination rooms, and labs equipped with the latest resources, technology and equipment. For students pursuing the health sciences and who are in need of academic guidance within their selected health program can access the office of Health Programs Advising located on the first floor of the K-building.   

As you make your way out, you’ll see the L Building, or Loux Center. This building is not typically visited by students as it serves as neurological rehabilitation facility. Named in honor of Donny Loux, the Loux Center operates as a public-private partnership with the College and other local organizations to serve the needs of the disabled.

WC Episode 8 - K & L Buildings

Modular 9: Career and  Transfer Services  

Modular 9  houses  faculty and staff offices for  both Career and Transfer Services. On the career end, services include assistance  with career  exploration, job  search assistance, internship and volunteer opportunities to students and alumni. The center helps students define career goals through computerized assessments & career exploration activities  and  offers the Career & Technical Education Assistance Program to provide  help  to students facing significant barriers to education and/or  employment.  

In this shared space, you’ll  also  find the transfer  centers of UNLV and Nevada State College (NSC). After the completion of an  associate  degree, the College of Southern Nevada encourages its graduates to transfer and pursue their bachelor's degree at a four-year institution. In conjunction with CSN Academic Advising, the Transfer Services staff assist students to explore further post-secondary options through the provision of resources and information for successful transfer to a four-year college or university.  

Modular 11: Veteran Affairs   

Modular 11 is home to  the Veterans Education & Transition Services. The VETs Center works as a liaison between CSN students and the Department of Veterans Affairs to assist veterans and their dependents with their educational benefits and academic needs. The Center not only certifies enrollment, but it also provides timely and accurate information on VA related issues, as well as a place for our veteran students to socialize and study.  

CSN High School  

Did you know students in their junior and senior year of high school can come and earn credit toward  both their high school diploma and their  associate  degree? An added benefit of attending CSN High School is that it’s part of the Clark County School District, meaning students can take college courses for free! Only a select number of applicants are accepted each year, so keep an eye on the CSN High School website for application details!

Your tour guide today will be myself, Taylor Cayro, former CSN student studying journalism and video production and former Student Ambassador with the Department of Recruitment and College Connections. During my time as a Student Ambassador, I gave prospective students campus tours and today it is my pleasure to offer you this tour of the Charleston campus.

Built in 1988, the  Charleston campus  sits between the ever-vibrant Las Vegas strip and the calm natural scape of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. This campus  stretches over 80 acres, making it the  largest  of  CSN’s three  main campuses and  features  a large selection of our Health Science programs, the Fire Science Program, and the Journalism program.

CSN Charleston Tour Introduction

Before we end our tour, I’d like to make some notable mentions of areas we didn’t get to visit today. Like, Building-N, or the Ken and Carolyn Sparks Art Complex, which includes classrooms and studios for the instruction of the arts including ceramics, drawing, jewelry design, painting, printmaking and sculpture.  

The F-building, which houses the City of Las Vegas Fire Station 6 as well as three CSN classrooms.  

And, finally, the College of Southern Nevada considers the safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors to be of the highest priority, which is why building M is home to the University Police.  On your tour, you may have noticed a few towering red poles labeled “Emergency”. If the moment should ever arise, you can feel safe in knowing that these emergency call boxes, which are available campus-wide, can connect you to the University Police and Campus Security.

CSN Charleston Tour Conclusion

On the northwestern part of the campus, you’ll find the A and B buildings.  Named after Claude I. Howard, a dedicated philanthropist toward the  health sciences, the A building houses our Dental related programs, Medical Laboratory Program, Ophthalmic Technology Program, Physical Therapist Assistant Program, and the Radiation Therapy Program. This facility also features professional services offered by the Dental Faculty Practice and Mojave Mental Health Services. A unique feature about the A-Building is  the Dental  Clinic where residents of the community can get services provided  by our students.  

 Named in honor of Donald F. Stone for his family’s support of the College,  the Stone Complex  is a multi-use facility housing the Paramedic Medicine program, Health Information Technology Program,  as well as  the  on-campus veterinary clinic where  Veterinary Nursing  students receive  extensive hands-on  experience with many animal species during clinical rotations.  

Here you can also find  the campus bookstore  where students can purchase or rent class textbooks, buy school supplies, load up on CSN swag, or grab a quick snack! The  B-building  is also home to CSN  Streamin’  Radio,  Southern Nevada’s ONLY college student-run  digital  streaming  radio station.  

If you’re seriously thinking of starting your journey at CSN, Building-B is where you can locate the main offices for the Department of Recruitment and College Connections, where dedicated professionals are available to provide personalized assistance to prospective CSN students.

WC Episode 1 - A & B Buildings

Situated next to a relaxing courtyard that is shared with the D-Building,  the C-Building  is  host to the  main computer lab where enrolled students have access to several PC’s, Mac’s, and printing services.  As a perk, CSN students receive a printing allowance each semester.  Keep in mind that  computer lab hours may vary  between terms  so make sure to check  the  posted hours in the lab or online!  

 Around the perimeter of the computer  lab  are several  technology-based  classrooms,  as well as  the Centers  for  Academic Success.  Located towards the east end of the building, the Centers for Academic Success (or CAS) offers unlimited access to  learning assistance services  for  all registered students. Ranging from one-on-one tutoring to guided study groups, CAS can provide the resources necessary for student success.   

 Located down the hall from the Centers for Academic Success is the World Languages Lab. The lab provides English as a Second Language placement testing to ESL students as well as access to audio, visual, and computer materials used in developing language proficiency.

WC Episode 3 - C Building

Also known as the Paul E. Meacham Student Services  building,  the D-building  is  the main information center and centralized location for the majority of student services;  where students come first and can complete their administrative functions,  from admission to graduation,  as well as socialize in the lounge area.   As you enter the lobby, you’ll see the information desk as well as the  CoyoteQ  kiosk. Whether it’s a big or small question, you’ll always want to make sure to sign-in to the  virtual line for whichever student service department you  wish  to speak with. Here in the Student Services area, you’ll find: 

- The Office of the Registrar, where students have access to their personal and academic records. 

- The Testing Center, where admitted students can take their initial placement tests and enrolled students can take proctored exams. 

- Academic Advising, where students can receive assistance with academic planning and course selection to meet their educational goals.  

- The Disability Resource Center (or DRC), where students with documented disabilities have access to resources, accommodations, and highly qualified disability specialists.  

- The Financial Aid Office, where students can discuss all options of funding to pay for their education at CSN.   

- The Cashier, where students can handle school-related finances and billing. 

- And Counseling and Psychological Services (or CAPS), where students can meet with a licensed therapist, at no additional cost, to address any psychological stressors or emotional needs.  

The D-Building is also home to our International Center. Did you know that more than 400 international students from 70 countries are currently earning a degree or certificate here at CSN? To make sure that all students feel welcome, the International Center serves as a one-stop service center with multicultural and multilingual professional staff who are eager  to assist.  

Next door is Building E,  the  main administrative building  that  houses the Office of the President and his staff as well as executive administration, the CSN Foundation, and Human Resources. The School of Arts and Letters and photography labs are also located in this building.

WC Episode 2 - D & E Buildings

Making its debut in the fall of 2019, this  Student Union  is  one  of three  Student Unions located on each main campus.  Serving as a central hub for  student life and day-to-day social interactions, the Student Union  has become the  quintessential  hangout spot for students.  Here,  you  can enjoy a delicious meal from the Student Union Café,  which offers a revolving menu of seasonal delights and everyday favorites,  or you can opt for a quick  snack, beverage  or coffee,  from  our Barista Bar serving Starbucks.   

In the Student Union, you’ll also find the Associated Students of the College of Southern Nevada, or ASCSN Student Government. At student government, you can meet the leaders of tomorrow who are ready to help you today! Services available to students through student government include activities and events throughout the semester to get students engaged, the printing of your student ID card, free scantrons available to students for tests, and information about joining or starting a student club. If interested in any of the above or in being an ASCSN Senator, make sure to stop by the student government office to learn more.

WC Episode 5 - Student Union

Opened in  the fall of  2003,  buildings G and H  are  part of the combined 75,000 square-foot lecture and lab tower spaces containing  several  classrooms  and laboratories  for students taking  science  courses  such  as biology, chemistry, geography, and geology,  as well as  physics. Other spaces in the building include chemical instrumentation, undergraduate research/special studies, and an astronomy dark room.

This beautiful 78,000  square-foot building  opened in 2008.  Building-I  sits on six acres and is home to the CSN Library which features a student lounge area, 10 private group study rooms, and more than 50 computer stations.  

The treasure trove of information available to you inside could mean the difference between a good project and a better one. Featuring a reference desk with knowledgeable librarians ready to assist you and a requesting system that connects you with scholarly sources from all of the CSN campus libraries, fellow NSHE institution libraries, and libraries beyond the state of Nevada to give you the research and information you will need for your project. CSN also offers access to peer-reviewed articles, papers, journals, and texts through the online CSN library. Don’t let your project suffer from bad sources. Though this campus may be the smallest of our three main campuses, I like to think it’s the mightiest with our aviation, welding, men’s baseball, women’s softball, and men’s and women’s soccer programs being unique to its grounds. Built in 1981, this 75-acre campus features six buildings located in the city of Henderson on the south side of the Vegas Valley near the heart of Las Vegas’ heritage, Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam, at the corner of College Drive and US 95.

CSN Henderson Tour Introduction

The A Building of the Henderson campus is a single-story building and is the smallest building we’ll talk about, located on the northern most part of the campus. Housed inside is our campus library, bookstore, and CSN’s aviation and welding programs.

While on the subject of books, you can find all of your textbooks available for rent or purchase in addition to essential school supplies, CSN swag, and even a few snacks and refreshments inside the CSN bookstore. With one on all three main campuses, make sure to stop by our bookstore and take advantage of this resource available to you. 

Rounding out the A building are the aviation and welding programs. Whether you’re looking to become a private, commercial, or drone pilot, or are interested more in -flight operations or cabin service, the aviation program has a degree for you. Using several forms of flight and gauge simulations, students can join the program with no experience and leave ready to take the FAA exam for their chosen field. 

Down the hall, students can learn the proper and safe techniques needed to become a welder. Whether you’re looking for a broad entry or advanced level welding degree or a specific skillset of welding like arc, pipe, or structural welding, CSN’s welding program will be getting you the education you need to join the workforce in little time.

HEN Episode 1 - A Building

Nestled between the A and B buildings of the Henderson campus is CSN High School, where students in their junior and senior year of high school take classes at CSN that earn them credit toward both their high school diploma and their associate degree at the same time. Outside of CSN High School, students in high school can still earn college credit by attending CTE courses, Jumpstart early enrollment courses, or be dual-enrolled high school students taking classes at CSN.  

Moving farther south to the B Building of the Henderson campus, you will find within the walls of this two-story building the Student Services area and General Education classrooms. Assistance with the following are included in the student services area: Recruitment, the Office of the Registrar, the Testing Center, Academic Advising, Financial Aid, the Cashier, First Year Experience, Career and Transfer Services, the Disability Resource Center, and security. These departments are designed to put students first.  

The Department of Recruitment and College Connections is where you’ll find Recruiters ready with guidance on CSN’s First Steps of Enrollment process. These Recruiters are generally available by walk-ins Monday through Friday. The Office of the Registrar is where students have access to their personal and academic records. First Year Experience and the Coyote Concierge desk is available to help first-year students with the transition to college life. Career and Transfer Services is designed to help students transition to life after CSN, whether that is the work force or transferring to a four-year institution. The Disability Resource Center is where students with documented disabilities have access to resources, accommodations, and highly qualified disability specialists. And lastly security. CSN takes campus and student safety very seriously. On your tour, you may have noticed a few towering red poles labeled “Emergency”. HEN Episode 2 - B Building

The C Building of the Henderson campus is the most prominent building on site. This two-story building houses the computer lab, technology-driven classrooms, the Centers for Academic Success, science labs, Counseling and Psychological Services, and an auditorium. 

Beginning on the bottom floor, students can find a state-of-the-art computer lab facility complete with computers, software, and printers available to enrolled students for free. The printers do have a cost per page charge, but students can utilize a printing allowance issued to them every semester to cover these costs.  

Bordering the computer lab are technology-driven classrooms, where students can attend in-person courses digitally, and the Centers for Academic Success, otherwise known as tutorial services. Here, enrolled students can get access to free tutoring across all academic areas. Down the hall from the computer lab, students can meet with a licensed therapist, at no additional cost, to address any psychological stressors or emotional needs at Counseling and Psychological Services, or CAPS for short. 

Rounding out the C building, students can find a 221-seat auditorium, ready built for classes, presentations, and student-oriented events, and on the second floor, various science labs ready for students to complete their general education science lab requirement in astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology, or physics are available.

HEN Episode 3 - C Building

Our newest additions to the CSN Henderson campus are our Student Union building and our Health Sciences expansion building. Opening in August 2019 and fall 2021 respectively, these buildings bring new life to our southernmost campus of the Vegas Valley. The Student Union was built as a hub for students. Here, you will find the Associated Students of the College of Southern Nevada, or ASCSN Student Government, the Student Union cafe, a barista bar serving Starbucks, a multicultural center, study rooms available for reservation, and ample room to just relax, study, or simply hangout with friends. At student government, you can meet the leaders of tomorrow ready to help you today! Services available to students through student government include activities and events throughout the semester to engage students, student ID card printing, free scantrons during test times, and information about joining or starting a club. If interested in any of the above or being an ASCSN Senator yourself, make sure to stop by the ASCSN office on the campus nearest you. 

Located just west of the Student Union is our Health Sciences expansion building. This 73,000-square-foot facility built as a joint venture between the College of Southern Nevada and Nevada State College to provide more classrooms and study space for limited entry health programs. Students interested in health-related fields will now have the ability to study at both the Charleston campus on the west side and the Henderson campus on the south side of the Vegas Valley.

HEN Episode 4 - Student Union & Health Sciences Building

CSN offers many championship winning sports like baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. While our basketball and volleyball programs play out of the North Las Vegas campus, our Coyote baseball, Lady Coyote softball, and men’s and women’s soccer teams play out of the Henderson campus.  

Our Coyote baseball program has won several SWAC, NJCAA Region 18, NJCAA Western District Junior College World Series, and have been crowned national champions since the team took their first pitch in the year 2000. Since forming, talented players have moved through our ranks with our most notable player being Bryce Harper. 

Our men’s soccer program has seen success too since they first played in the fall of 2016, winning NJCAA Region 18 and SWAC championships of their own. Students interested in joining these esteemed teams can fill out an interest packet online.

The North Las Vegas campus is the oldest of the three main campuses at CSN and is located just northeast of the World-Famous Fremont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas.  

Programs unique to this campus are the Automotive Technology, Casino Management, Computer Science, Culinary Arts, Education, Performing Arts, Photography,  and  Videography & Film programs. This campus is also home to one of only two Planetariums in the State of Nevada and the only one located in Southern Nevada.

CSN North Las Vegas Tour Introduction

The main building at the North Las Vegas Campus is three buildings all connected; this is the heart of the academic and student services experience at the North Las Vegas Campus. When you initially enter through the Main Building Entrance, you’ll notice the coffee bar to your left, if you walk past this you will enter the N Building. This has its own dedicated North entrance as well and is the host for many academic classrooms. Directly in front when you enter is the June Whitley Student Lounge, and the CSN Bookstore is to your right. All of these are keys to the day to day experience on this campus. You can spend time hanging out and studying in the lounge, while ordering a drink from the Starbucks Coffee Bar or grabbing a snack, CSN swag, or renting and buying textbooks from the Bookstore. 

Walking past the bookstore, let's explore the S building, which has its own south entrance. In this building is the Early Childhood Education Center, which doubles as both a learning environment for students and a childcare facility for CSN Community members to utilize. The CSN Campus Recreation Center, can be used by students and staff for a workout, and it’s also where the CSN Coyotes practice and play women's volleyball and men's and women's basketball. Lastly the S building contains the planetarium, where you can join cosmic showings and star gazing. 

Directly across and down the hall from the bookstore is the Student Services East Wing or E Building. This area of the main building houses all the student resources needed to enroll and succeed at CSN by putting students first. Student Recruitment, where you can begin your enrollment process at CSN and ask all your questions before applying. The Office of the Registrar, where students have access to their personal and academic records. Financial Aid, where students can discuss all options of funding to pay for their education at CSN.  The Testing Center, where admitted students can take their initial placement tests and enrolled student can take proctored exams. The Disability Resource Center or DRC, where students with documented disabilities have access to resources, accommodations, and highly qualified disability specialists. The First Year Experience Team made to help first-year students with the transition to college life. Career and Transfer Services, designed to help students transition to life after CSN, whether that is the work force or transferring to a four-year institution. The Cashier’s Office, where students can handle school-related finances and billing. TRiO, a federally funded program aimed to help first-generation college students, and Counseling and Psychological Services, where students can meet with a licensed therapist, at no additional cost, to address any psychological stressors or emotional needs, are all located inside the Student Services area in the E Building.  

On the second floor of this building is the Library where you can utilize the online catalog and the reference desk to help you access a wide selection of texts and scholarly sources, whether it’s borrowing from multiple CSN campuses or utilizing the requesting system to access material outside of our institution. And directly above the Bookstore is Academic Advising where students can receive assistance with academic planning and course selection to meet their educational goals.

NLV Episode 1 - Main Building (N, E, & S Buildings)

The H Building, located just north of the Main Building, is home to our Performing Arts Programs. Inside the H building we have our Fine Art Gallery, which features exhibition space to display student created art, and the Performing Arts Center. The Performing Arts Center opened in 1995 and hosts a variety of events each year. The center is comprised of two venues—the Nicholas J. Horn Theatre (with a 524-seat capacity) and the  Backstage Theatre (with a 125-seat capacity), each with state-of-the-art equipment and staffed by a professional technical team.  

Inside the building is also the Audio Recording Studio for the CSN Music Program. The Audio Recording Studio  features  a huge studio space for musicians, two control rooms an isolation room,  and a computer music lab  with industry-leading equipment that is always being upgraded.  In addition to these main attractions, the H building also has Instrument and Choir Rehearsal Rooms, Piano Rooms, and a Recital Hall with a 141-seat capacity.

NLV Episode 2 - H Building

Welcome to CSN Recruitment's online campus tour SoundCloud. Our recruitment team provides personal assistance to prospective and newly admitted CSN students throughout the entire college exploration and enrollment process. In addition to working with local school districts, the team also works with local businesses, community groups and under-served populations to increase access to CSN’s many educational and occupational opportunities.
