Tout a commencé en 1996, j avais 19 ans. Arrivé par hasard dans une soirée techno en pleine forêt pas très loin de Besançon , un chemin blindé de camion menant à un bunker, et là un ronronnement de basse comme j'avais jamais entendu, je suis resté scotché aux enceintes toute la nuit. C'est là que j'ai découvert le monde de la techno, la tribe…Et c'est là que je suis parti une quinzaine de jours avec cette tribu de kaki, casquettes et crâne rasés  . Au départ j'ai appris la jonglerie, puis  je me suis mis aux mix sur platines, depuis une vingtaine d'années au live sur une Roland mc307 et CUBASE, Ableton live, Reason , Fruity loops et sur  Elektron, Electribe, Roland  ........ J'aies fait parti OPA, des TERATONE ,et maintenant les TRIBATEK ............... RAVE ON

Gre découvre le milieu techno au début des années 2000, en s’intéressant d’abord à la musique ‘Hardcore’ avec des artistes comme ‘Micropoint’, ‘Manu le malin’, ‘Heretik’ et d’autres…
Il ne tarde pas à s’orienter vers un style plus psychédélique, la Tribe,  dans lequel il puise beaucoup d’influences, avec des artistes comme le Network 23, Okupe, Fky, Curley, Gotek, Lsdf, Asystematik….

Il sort son 1er vinyl en 2008 sur le label DSP Records avec son acolyte Manu aka Noum sous le nom de Mydriaz (https://soundcloud.com/mydriaz-manu), et s’en suivront d’autres presses avec notamment 25ème dimension sur le label Akouf’n Records.

En 2014, il fonde le label 'Okuma Records' avec plusieurs activistes de la scène Tekno franc-comtoise.

Après 17 années passées sur la scène londonienne à développer des projets et à affiner son univers musical à travers l’organisation de soirées, Fred Balkayou s’est imposé comme un explorateur passionné des nouvelles tendances musicales.

De retour en France, il s’intègre dans divers collectifs et évolue aujourd’hui à Besançon, où il continue de partager son amour pour la musique. Son style unique mêle avec audace et créativité la world music et l’électro, une fusion dynamique et en constante évolution.

Récemment, il a cofondé le duo Maqsum avec son complice Madma, poursuivant sa quête musicale à travers des collaborations originales.

Sur scène, Fred Balkayou a eu le privilège de jouer aux côtés d’artistes de renom tels que Guts, Balkan Beat Box, Caravan Palace, Mr. Scruff, Les Negresses Vertes, Sofiane Saïdi, Groove Armada, Shantel, Gypsy Hill, Stanton Warriors et The Freestylers.

kosha (Sanskrit कोश, IAST: kośa), usually rendered "sheath", the covering of the Atman, or Self. 

kośa is a soundsmith who brings you a flavour mixing - downtempo, acid house, minimal//deep-tech ranging from 80 to 120 bpm, electronic yet organic tunes, deep hypnotic meditative grooves and solid kicks infused with Indian, Arabic and other Ethnic influences which we beautifully term 'spiritual deeptech' a genre coined by kośa, rooted in the deepest part of India's underground scene.

ॐ//om -The great primordial sound, the original sound from which the universe was created, the sound of all sounds together. According to Hindu metaphysics everything is made of sounds (vibrations), since everything is sound, healing through it, is an ancient ritual, as sound is not only heard through our ears but vibrates within every cell of our bodies.

For us at kosa records this network gives space to connect ideas of various forms to do art for art's sake - not for social recognition. to break the rules of systematic exploitation of the artist's energy and to feel the soul in synchonicity.

We consumed too much music and it started to leak and this is when kośa evolved into a record label in January 2019 with the release of their first various artists compilation Mīmāṃsā, though the real beginnings were with our Podcast series the raga saga https://soundcloud.com/kosamusica/sets/the-raga-saga where in we showcase an hour of beautiful music from our favorite artists from around the world.

33% of all proceeds are donated to Pawbro India Foundation that aims at feeding stray dogs and other animals in Pune, India, feeding over 150 strays everyday.
