This piece was created to accompany a real conversation I had with an 80-year-old man in Derry in Northern Ireland at Christmas. We were discussing the UK’s elderly care system — how people who’ve worked and paid taxes all their lives can end up losing their homes to pay for care, while private companies profit and others receive care for free without contributing.

The conversation, recorded in real time on my phone, is unfiltered,  unedited and includes some explicit language, and is slightly humorous in parts. The music was written afterward to reflect the tension, emotion, and lived reality of that moment — a raw snapshot of a much bigger issue.
