I was de-mixing the vocal tracks of this piece so they can be exported as stems.

During the process , I removed all of the strings from the arrangement and thought it sounded interesting just as piano and vocals, which was how I originally intended to cover the song. 

I thought I'd release it here just in case anyone was interested in a little peek behind the curtain, under the production to the bare bones of piano and vocal. Oh, and I left a little Timpani drum and crash cymbal in the mix, too. 

I added some high piano melody where some of the strings sat. 

All piano parts were performed on my Nord Stage 3 with a sustain pedal and a little  Valhalla reverb. Enjoy.

This song is my future self at ninety, speaking back to my present self. It’s raw, intimate, and soft-spoken — like a truth only time can reveal. Where "Don’t Be Me" (https://on.soundcloud.com/HDgZa4Mt4Sy1GVqfg) was my plea to the five-year-old me to hold on to her fire, "Voice at Ninety" is the continuation — the perspective of a woman who has lived it all, looking back with clarity and love. It’s about recognizing that even as the body ages, the spirit doesn’t fade, and the fire inside still burns. It’s a reminder not to save your song for another day, not to fold or disappear, but to live fully and love fiercely for as long as body and mind allow. This isn’t just advice to myself — it’s a message for anyone who has ever wondered what really matters when the years catch up: love, truth, and the courage to keep your voice alive.

READING A LOVE LETTER

When we first started writing songs together we thought we’d keep it simple but found the allure of a full band sound too tempting to ignore. This song, about the destructive patterns we get locked into, is us fulfilling that original intention - just acoustic guitar, violin and vocals. The riff that underpins the song could have gone another way….that’ll be the next release.

Took VV's spoken word; did my beats and spices, and now I took my take to AI Music and messed about to get this take. I did feel  AI-Faust's touch on my shoulder and the portrait of me in the attic is ageing at on alarming rate ;-)

My friend Vigilant Verse drops these gems of poetry with a musical voice and panache that blows me away. I have taken his spoken word and added some beats and spices to be able to just enjoy his magic in new frame of reference. Hopefully I have done VV's words right. Cheers
