Music for the documentary "Children of the Rain", which tells about the daily life of families and employees of the Center for Social Integration for children with autism. Despite the illness, children always remain children: they are playful, they retain an amazing ability to dream. In this music, I wanted to emphasize this: a dramatic slow start on the piano, which later develops into a full orchestration. The choice of solo instruments fell on music boxes and metallophones, which give the compositions a somewhat fabulous "childish" character.
The last track includes all the previous tracks in a different arrangement with fragments of the voices of the film's characters.

Cheerful And Dynamic Duet Of Piano And Metallophone

A very unusual track for me. I wanted to combine symphonic instruments, polyphonic parts of different synthesizers (I used FM synthesis), and heavy guitars. Percussion instruments also underwent a serious metamorphosis: I use the layering of synthetic and acoustic drum parts in unison. I can say the same about the bassline: I tried to combine the synthesis and the bass guitar parts (I tried to mix tuba, but it greatly increased the muddiness of the mix). This track was written as an accompaniment to a text about anxious depression, so the emphasis was primarily on chaos and gloom. Dissonances, screaming leads, violin tremolo - this is how I visualized this mental illness, with which many of us had to be familiar firsthand. But as they told me in my psychiatry classes at the medical university, depression has one very good quality - it definitely ends.

I wrote this track for a video that told the story of the formation of the Russian athlete Elena Afanasyeva. This Woman became the European champion in athletics (1998), despite a congenital heart defect. The story of her struggle starts from childhood, so the track starts with children's voices, which I partially recorded in a kindergarten in the neighborhood. The composition itself, like the sports career of the hero of the film, has an ascending character. The light and naive piano at the beginning is overgrown with orchestral accompaniment, then it converses with staccato strings, and at the end it is interrupted by a victorious horn.

I started my musical path as a guitarist in various bands, since childhood I have been a devotee of rock music, so I was especially happy with this order. I tried to add a lot of genre elements to the arrangement: classic pop-punk grids, breakdowns, guitar coloring elements in the downbeat, characteristic of progressive rock and much more.

Conceptually, the idea was to combine the timbres of the west (piano and classical composition of a symphony orchestra) and east (light solo duduk and Asian brass percussion). In the orchestra, a group of woodwind instruments comes to the fore: flute, bassoon, clarinet and oboe. All these instruments, except for the first one, have a similar way of sound production with a solo duduk, so the group is a kind of link between the seemingly incompatible instruments in the previous demo. As melodic percussion, I used the sound of Tibetan singing bowls, which, against the background of orchestral timbre diversity, rather resemble a shy triangle.
