I used to gig with Martin and Fiona,we had some great times and played well together.
A while back we recorded this Randy Newman song,just because it's a lovely piece. Hope you enjoy.

Some billion years ago
a curious random flow
of molecules ignited what we now know as life

life went on to disperse
grew violently diverse
and crept and swam and blossomed into each niche of earth

a myriad creatures grew
and each one looked out to
eternal thriving for their species 
little they knew

that all comes to an end
when time was ripe, they went
into oblivion - just the fossils 
hold the memory of them
And suddenly some strange new creature 
starts to enter the scene 
the age of humans begun
They seem to have developed 
some remarkable features 
their intellect matched by none

With their collective mind
They could find the spell to bind 
The curse of certain extinction
for their kin and their kind 

With their joint intellect 
With humble due respect
They might protect themselves from vanishing
But they don’t seem to mind



We spy into the cosmos with our Hubbles and Webbs
but all we manage to hear ...
... is nothing .... but the menacing sound of pure silence 

out there are a zillion worlds 
older by eons than ours 
that should host 
a wealth of civilizations 
… Where are you?
…. Where have you gone?

The web of life emerges, 
occasionally it purges
And rips out nearly all the pages from its thick book
Life fades at rapid rate.  
Are we next on the slate?
Is perish our fate?

Mother nature is not kind

Well hello. Here’s some rustic Mountain Blues, played on extremely oxidized guitar strings, with me hollering from the mountain top. Hahahaha. The song hints at a personal authenticity, and the experience of possibly unraveling any prior conditioning (Pavlovian or otherwise) that may constrict our lives in some way. It’s also about the different personas we portray to the outside world. How we may act at work, or on a first date, or with our spouse, or kids, friends, enemies, those who hurt us, even our stage personas comes into play…. So this song is asking a lot of us. In other news, right now in June, the mountains are snow covered and it froze last night. That is late spring, early summer here. Gardenwise, this year, I am planting a lot more Brassicas: Kale, Cabbage and Broccoli, and they are growing well. I am going to try to fence off the carrot/beet beds, as the voles always eat more carrots and beets than I ever do. Onions, leeks and garlic have been growing since March. I transplanted 50 lettuce plants I grew from seed that I saved from last year’s lettuce. The berry bushes and fruit trees have really blossomed this year. There are squash, cukes, tomato and pepper plants inside by the window, to be transplanted outside next week, quite a mess… all of which keeps me busy…. Hahaha. This song began with Ken's oldest son, Jack, who laid down the basic rhythmic beat. Ken took over after that with the rest of the beats, though. Jack just graduated high school last week, and he's into hip hop and trap music, so he wanted to share some of it with his musician father, who is very proud of him.
  Tez was first up on this one, which surprised me when I went back and checked the workflow. He added the perfectly placed guitar hits throughout. Josh was next up, using his synth to add the falling bass line. Last, but not least, Terry came aboard, adding the moody, melodic, high register synth.
  When it was all finished, we asked out resident pro mixer, Stephen, to mix it for us. 
  This song was in its current form for about the past eight months. It was originally part of a series of vehicles Eclectic Collective composed for The Mysterious Decibel. He got caught up in life, though, and had to abandon the project. So, we sat on it, asking all the rappers we know if they'd be interested in having a go with it, but no one bit. So, with Jack's recent graduation, Ken revived it as a celebratory song for his son. It could still use some vocals, too, so think of this as an open invitation to anyone who want to do the honors. 
  We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it. 
  Oh, and just a side note for all of our friends who follow along with us, we won't be releasing a song this coming Friday, the 4th, but will have  new one for you, the following Friday, the 11th. Thank you for keeping up with us!
