One year ago Polish Gov enforced almoast-total abortion ban. At that time my friends from @destitutepl and I was asked to curate a room at common / currents.fm platform. We prepared few hours of content focusing our attention to what’s happening in Poland and raising funds for foundations that help with abortions. 

I had covid at the time and I could see the protests only with someone else’s eyes due to quarantine. My consciousness was bombed with the images and sounds I could only hear from electronic devices. The idea of a postcard from hellish Poland was born. 

I mixed found footage with sounds of oppression, fear and anger to go to nightmarish soundscapes altogether with field recordings from the protests that I asked my friends to do for me. Later on you can find a little spark of hope.

Unfortunately the content is still relevant and the law stayed with us. I never published this work on soundcloud and I thought I’ll do that for this sad anniversary.

Producer duo @ifs_raps and Japanese rapper @ultrama00 team up for a collective ritual.

Imagine a consciousness saturated with a psychoactive substance. Perceptual precision spills out of the defined limits, colours blur and the edges of objects become sticky and stretchy. At this borderline moment, between waking and hallucination, the pulse is activated. It begins to accelerate. It forces the body to react immediately. A syncopated strobe flashes with rhythm. A figure that is a voice enters the stage. With each formed word, the voice sinks into its sound, dissolving meaning into the fractal sonority of language.

REIFSMA activates in apparent simplicity. The initial drum loops sound familiar ('Heddchara'), but then - from behind the sliding curtain of the beat - MA appears on stage. He begins to weave his multi-layered story. His voice seems to be in many places at once. On the one hand, he is trying to create some kind of narrative, but at the same time he can't stop himself from uncontrollable, sound-alike digressions that spread in different directions. The stories told by MA seem to oscillate around automatic writing and create snapshot images of a frenetic mind reacting to the slightest hint of reality. MA's voice shows its wide register and different frequencies, as if it is capturing from within the streams of consciousness of different people lending itself to them to spin their own stories. There is something sensually primal in this gesture, playing out beyond the control of habitually trained attention. The IFS duo's rushing beats follow the shamanic MA like his shadow. They accompany him with their jitteriness ("Shinnyu"), nervous loops ("Yaksoq") and breadth of perspective ("Enshooritz"). However, they do not pretend to distract from MA's voice; rather, they try to frame a broad panorama for the ritual situation.

In the world of REIFSMA, listeners feel like characters in William Gibson's books. Faced with sensual overstimulation, the body reacts uncontrollably and spontaneously. The aim, however, is not liberation from technology, but to find a loop for the body to instinctively follow.

IFS is a duo of producers coming from Poland: Mateusz Wysocki (@fischerle) and Krzysztof @kook-on Ostrowski. Their extensive musical fascinations draw on traditions such as avant-garde, dub, glitch, footwork and hip-hop. There have been five releases by the duo to date, including the 2022 album 'Psycho Outs' recorded with Polish rapper Prykson.

MA is a Tokyo-based Japanese rapper and vocalist. His musical activities include extended vocal practices and field recordings. Two MA albums have been released so far - a debut album on Morphine Records and a collaboration with Italian sound artist Nicola Ratti 'NR + MA'.

IFS MA - REIFSMA

This is one of the life jackets found on the beach of the Greek island of Chios. It was worn by a refugee who had fled across the Mediterranean. I don't know if this person is still alive or if he/she made it to the shore. We don't know what happened to him or her.


Orange life jackets appeared in Poznań in 2017 as part of the 'Adopt a Life Vest' campaign, coordinated by the Centre for Migration Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University.


49 orange and black life jackets, 49 lives - of thousands of people fleeing wars. The vests were meant to draw attention to the problems of refugees in public places, offices, theatres and schools.


I also took part and took home an object that belonged to someone who had fled war, fear, poverty, hunger and great anxiety. I don't know what happened to that person, I don't know where she is, if she is still alive? I only know that she is not with us in Poland.


The system that was supposed to work has failed - there was no humanitarian corridor to ensure safe escape from the war zones, no resettlement assistance from the transit camps in Italy and Greece to support these countries in solidarity. There was no resettlement programme from the camps in the countries bordering the conflict zones, because it was and is easier to close one's eyes than to deal with the problem.


Barricades were put up at the borders. We closed ourselves off instead of reaching out and helping.


The life jacket I adopted has become a mobile sign. It has a great emotional meaning for me and is not just an object.


Since 2017, I have taken it with me to different places. When I travel with it, I think a lot and intensely about the situation of all the people who have had to flee their homes, cities and countries.


This life jacket you see now belongs to someone, it was meant to help people cross the sea, it was meant to give them hope of survival.

I do not know where the owner of it might be. I hope he/she is in a safe place.

Równonoc wiosenna, pierwszy dzień wiosny zazwyczaj świętujemy poprzez bliski kontakt z naturą. W tym roku wyszliśmy tylko na balkon.

Spędzając więcej czasu razem w domu, zaczęliśmy też tego dnia nagrywać muzykę, wracając do zarzuconego wcześniej pomysłu na piosenki katastroficzne naszego duetu Monster Hurricane Wihajster. Powstało sporo nagrań, nad którymi jeszcze popracujemy, by wyłonił się z tego cały album MHW „Inne Święto Wiosny”. (Najtrudniej w domu nagrać wokale, zwłaszcza z dziećmi wokół.) Chcemy się podzielić utworem „Not Today (but soon)” w dwóch częściach oraz dwoma tekstami powstałymi w ostatnim czasie.

Tekst Moniki ukazuje zaakceptowanie narzuconego dystansu społecznego poprzez przesunięcie uwagi na okazję do wzmocnienia bliskości osobistej. My – nie wy.

Natomiast wiersz Huberta pochodzi z cyklu o wyprowadzaniu psa, którego nie posiada, wiersze te powstają zawsze w działaniu, podczas realnego obchodu czterech ulic z sąsiedztwa w rytmie przy zachowaniu pauz typowych dla spacerów z psem. W czasie epidemii taki spacer nabiera nowego znaczenia.

Mętne podłoże – noże, jak nogi rozwarte w pachwinach, jak wygięte w extazie ramiona.
Słodkie przejście poza granice jednego oddechu, jednego pulsu i tchnienia.
Duet wszystkiego z niczym topi się, roztańczony w wodospadzie pragnień.

Tam trwam_y w tej wodzie, w tej błękitnej fali, w śmiesznym serca splocie, raz będąc blisko, to znów w oddali.

Kręcą się jak owsiki krople wody zamkniętej w żyłach nieprzejrzystych.

Monster Hurricane Wihajster – Not Today Part 1

Monika / Mona Wińczyk (1977) - poznańska artystka i aktywistka, działająca solo oraz w duetach : ''Monster Hurricane Wihajster i "Mellin & Wińczyk", jak i w innych konstelacjach osobowych.
Obszarem jej działań jest empatia wobec wszelkich istot/ zjawisk i ich emancypacja, szeroko pojmowana natura, której towarzyszy ból, brak samoakceptacji, konflikt pokoleniowy, niestabilność, tęsknota za adoracją i przemoc.,
Współkuratorka Festiwalu Performance „Dragon odBity - 8 bitów" (2011r.) oraz festiwalu ,,die Fenster - wychylenia sztuki: performance, dźwięk, ruch" (2014r.). Inicjatorka "Performance art jam session", spotkań "MHW poleca" oraz cyklu "Monoformance". 
Uczestniczka festiwali "Widma Malingradu", "Cienka biała linia", "Obserwatorium miejskie", " Friv", ''Dni wykluczonych ciał", "Nowa Siła Kuratorska", "Sopot non-fiction", "Queer festu". Brała udział "OPA - otwartych pracowniach artystycznych" w Kolonii Artystów w Gdańsku. Pracowała przy projektach pro_uchodźczych „Zaadoptuj kamizelkę” i „ Galeria bez domu”. Brała udział w spektaklu „Ofelia_remix" oraz „Nomadka" Teatru Amareya & Guests, w konkursie "SzekspirOFF" ze spektaklami: "Wina Pramatki", "Stoję na brzegu rzeki", "Stormy protest song", "Re-wolta"oraz spektaklu operowym „Napój Miłosny”.
Współorganizatorka i uczestniczka Czarnego Protesty w 2016r. i Manif w Poznaniu. Współlokatorka wystawy „ Polka w budowie”. Uczestniczka projektu Black Venus Protest zainicjowanego przez kolektyw Caldodecultivo oraz „Obóz dla klimatu"
2021r. założyła grupę teatralną "trupa pod wezwaniem Santa Mony" na potrzeby przeprowadzenia projektu "mono czy stereo?"- off:premier w Teatrze Ósmego Dnia.
2022r. założyła grupę twórczą polsko-ukraińska przy "Kolektyw analog" i wyreżyserowała spektakl o życiu osób uchodźczych "Try walking in my shoes". 
W 2022/ 23r. jej projekty brały udział w programie "Współdziałanie w kulturze” organizowanym przez Programy Społeczne CK Zamek.
Ostatnio współpracowała z Rafałem Zapałą, kompozytorem "Operki o mizofonii" w której wystąpiła razem z Kubą Kapralem i Hubertem Wińczykiem oraz w projekcie "Wszystkie końce świata" z zespołem KakofoNIKT i Jackiem Hałasem.
Obecnie pracuje nad kolejną sztuką teatralną "TEKKK-Ło spada na Ziemię" Scenariusz, którego jest autorką został nagrodzony w konkursie off:premiery przez Teatr Ósmego Dnia.
