Vocals are back on after the last 2 instrumentals. Great fun to record , it's d tuned with a simple bluesy riff and cheeky guitar solo, naturally. Rounded off with a harmonised finale. This is part of 4 tracks that were all penned at once, the remaining three are in the final stages of completion.

Another Riff driven Pop/Rocker , no solo shocker!
An almost 'playgroundesque' riff which glues the track together along with more jangle than a jewellers wrist. The vocals are delivered deadpan straight with an infectious bass line which has space to hit octaves and some funky off beat lines. Altogether an intriguing pop song,  and the lyrics? Well that's a chapter in itself.

In complete contrast to last track 'Together', here's 'Man on the Run'. It's old school driven with both barrels, Les Paul tuned down and turned up through the Marshall and in full Crybaby Wah Wah mode in the solo. 
Catchy lyrics, harmonies and token tambourine assist in the momentum which is racing to the horizon. 
Very much in the vain of 'Lips on Mine', 'Gotta Get Up' and 'Easy as 123' it's full throttle, unapologetic and great fun. Enough hype, get your ears on it. 
2 more pending, a bluesy rocker and another riff blaster then onto some quieter sessions, honest.

An uplifting, vibrant and layered instrumental ideal for summer filled with positivity and life. 
The riff came out of the blue while improvising. With the combination of repetition , open drone strings and the 335 'jangle' proves highly infectious when double tracked. 
There's always room for a special instrumental or three on my albums and 'From The Heart' has bagged a justifiable seat right there.

Lots going on here, an addictive sincere guitar line brought to life by heartfelt vocals, bass and drums/percussion building tension slowly released over duelling guitars in a staccato solo. Melody, Harmonies and Expression continue for the next album taking shape.

When I See You There

Spring inspiration, probably one of the most creative periods I've had for a while. Album 13 completed with this track which sets its stall out clearly in the alternative rock style with all the Nickgcherrydot trademarks on display. The vocals and three part harmonies feature prominently along with a staccato blues riff, off beat fills and bass lines that Isaac Hayes would be proud of.  Reminds me in the production stage of 'Reason To Blame’ in that the chorus is so addictive I dare you not to find yourself humming it hours after, its indelible. 
Now the other side of this business takes over as artwork, mastering and running order are finalised for Album 13, 'Every time' will be available for summer release. 
It's the best yet, naturally.

All In Your Hands

Here's 2x Les Paul's for the price of one, my 2016 traditional sunburst and 2024 standard Fuschia duelling away over an angst driven vocal sung from the heart. So many parts to this one its complex and yet direct and simple. The outro reminds me of tracks from 5 years ago off The Black Tulip mainly Gotta Get Up and Easy As 123. Multiple contrasting guitar rhythm and lead parts converge together and there's at least another 3 strong riffs taking you to the horizon.   
Its guitar heaven but all rolled into a comprehensive ball of rock heading your way. 
The artwork is as ever original too from my lens kind of reminiscent of a solar flare, keeping in context.

Explain It Away

'Green Light' is the title track for soon to be released next album on Feb 27th. This album continue to develop themes of resolution and personal growth via the medium of Gibson guitars, catchy hooks, lush harmonies and perhaps a British eccentricity. 
Bags of energy and counter melodies for the chorus and verses here whilst the guitar rhythms sound straight out of Goats Head Soup (they're not btw) mixed with a modern arrangement and a first outing for a new pedal shining out at 2.22 to get the blood flowing quicker.  Green Light to go!!

Green Light

Here's a direct rock instrumental to blow the fog away. Fuschia Les Paul here setting the scene its punchy and succinct like its title. There's 'Pinball Wizardesque' bass, delay and chorused rhythm guitars and an ethereal middle 8 section. 

Resilience

A heartfelt track  with an addictive guitar line, gentle phrasing and relaxed mood.  
Similar in style to 'Why Is It So Different With You' from the last album 'Every Time'. Its sincere, direct, uncomplicated yet intense and brooding. As such this track stands out on the new album 'Green Light'.

New Year

So one day after the release of 'Green Light' here stands 'The Making Of You' . It's been in progress for the past few weeks and finally lyrics finished last (as ever). It's up tuned to provide the drone chug which I would usually do on the Les Paul however here it's my go to Cherrydot ES335 which gives different harmonics to the mix. The middle 8 is spacey and psychedelic and the breaks entwine drum fills, space and guitar. This is 'Positive Rock' and hopefully helps to energise and re charge the spark. Thanks February and here's to a productive March and the Spring.

The Making Of You

So one month to the day that 'Green Light' launched here's a second taster for the next album. It's taken a while to get the harmonies in line here simply as there's a few of them but it's paid off. It's a basic Les Paul riff using harmonics and open strings to build tension and the repetitive phases of the track reinforce the focus and resolve. I'm really pleased how this one developed from an initial chorus to its finished state. 
The current productivity and my train of thought strongly reminds me of a previous  time when my favourites 'The Things That You Love' and 'Comes Round Again' off album 'Keep On' were in production so it bodes well. 
So there's another classic on the Les Paul in the wings awaiting lyrics (nothing changes) and a moody groove on the Cherrydot in early phases which again shows potential. Exciting and creative times indeed.


Come This Far

Here's 'This Shadow I've Found', a profound pop/rock song which I think encapsulates the bulk of my sound and song construction in a concise 3.5 minute slice. It's played on the Les Paul , D tuned and was born from the descending riff and dual solo motif seemed like a good idea at the time and on tape just comes alive. The lyrics and harmonies particularly seemed natural to me and add depth and colour to compliment the split speaker rhythm guitars. 
This is my favourite track.

This Shadow I've Found

This is all from the ES335 with its distinctive jangle. It's dark edged, a moody, tense track with heartfelt lyrics and harmonies. 
3 more tracks are patiently waiting in the wings for finishing touches, its been a very productive time.

Was It The Right Time ?

Needed to get this one out of the system a Les Paul Instrumental rocker powered by a 'Leslie' spinning speaker effect. Several transitions here interwoven with the Les Paul 'C' tuned keeping it locked in. This was a major undertaking with more guitars than a Nashville music store. 
As ever these labour of love obsessional tracks take precedent as they don't come around that often though I recall past releases include 'Spice of Life', 'Cat Mouse', 'Would You Be Cool?' and 'Gotta Get Up'. It's reverse engineered which is rather time consuming but I hope pays off in the long run.

After the 6 minute instrumental rock of 'Big Window' here's the other side of the coin. 'The Music Plays For You' a more relaxed groove with a hypnotic flow.

Here's 'Lines On The Page' which started life as a collection of 'd tuned' riffs merged together into this engaging and thought provoking track. Lots of nuances and repeated diversions here that intertwine throughout the song. Harmonies, handclaps, pinched harmonics and 2 solo's for the price of one. This was close to being released a few weeks back however it required a few finishing touches before coming of age.

New Album coming on nicely here with an instrumental rocker with split distorted Les Paul, solid bass grooves and a Phased Crybaby Wah solo, naturally.   

At The Gates (Instrumental)

A definite country shuffle beat here and 1950's style rhythm guitars panned with reverb and tremelo. The feel changes in the middle 8 and for the solo and the coda was just an addictive groove that sat right without any lead solo. Album 15 needs 2 more tracks I feel.

This track came out of the blue and rolled off the production line swiftly. I feel it has a fluid feel and the sections flow into each other naturally creating light & shade. It's upbeat, direct and driven. Finishing touches now in place for the next album, exciting times.   

Until Now

'Awake In The Night' is the last written track for the next album 'At The Gates'. A punchy guitar fuelled rocker with attitude inspired by the latest hot spell. 3 minute original rock song , check, emotive lyrics and harmonies, check. Bangin' succinct guitar solo check, latest album complete, check.

This is what happens when you finish your latest album, you reset with a modal E tuning and come up with this banger.  Makes perfect sense, will require several listens to fully engage. Enjoy.

Lately my new tracks are either 'd tuned' chugfest's or quite the opposite bluesy jazz three minute twelve bar expolorations. Not much middle ground (bar Tribute for Wilmington, Someone I know I didn't write unfortunately) ,perhaps there never was much middle stuff , again does it matter !! Next tracks lined up are rather heavy so perhaps after them it will settle down...either that or I'll penning a few cheeky Christmas tracks. Uh No, not at this stage in my CAREER !

In polar opposite to 'On & Off' here's 'Carpe Diem'. A lively focused Rocker guaranteed to put a smile on your face. In the mold of 'Enter Your World' and 'On The Road' the 335 is firing on all cylinders with cheeky licks and flicks and tricks complimenting the positive life affirming message of the vox. You may see it another way of course which is cool, from the outset I wanted this to be a new angle on the rock single.  Play it loud. Nick

There's a pattern here. 'Folly' started it's journey as a Jazzer until it became apparent it had more depth and scope as an alternative rocker! So similar in approach to 'Weight of the World' and 'Just the Tonic' only with bigger harmonies.

Here is an eclectic mix of guitar fuelled rhythms all written, produced, sung and performed by Nick which have now culminated in 250 tracks in 6 years. The journey commenced in 2020 with 2 EP's and 14 albums since (6 in one year) Being 'The Black Tulip' , 'Prismatic' , 'Who Would You Be?' , 'The Red Carpet', 'Cat & Mouse', ‘How This Plays Out', 'Positive Signs', 'All The Colours' , '9' , 'Keep On', 'The Perfect Storm', 'Heart of Blue', 'Every Time', 'Green Light' with a new album pending imminently being 'At The Gates'.
These are available on the usual outlets Spotify/iTunes/Deezer/Pandora/Napster, Bandcamp etc.

Its eclectic, quirky I confess, British? Experimental in places but above all stuffed full with Gibson guitars, energy and a passion for music and life in the highs and lows that days of late bring.  Hope you appreciate the artwork too all photographed or produced by me to keep it authentic and original.

The music goes hand in hand with a more personal journey born through life changing events. Of note the album 'The Perfect Storm' set the benchmark in online attention with the title track single. I think the style and sincerity of performance mirrored the fact that all of my tracks are written for a reason and sparked by quite intense life changing events behind the scenes, you couldn't write it or maybe I could ! 
Personal choices at the moment are the opener Can't Erase The Memory, I Can and of course the single The Perfect Storm. 

There's a drive and belief that the writing process will continue and my growing knowledge and understanding of not just playing the guitar and instruments but the bringing of all the separate facets together. Put simply I'm addicted to the process which works in harmony in a cathartic way. Medication and meditation through music if you like.
The themes of resilience, belief and positivity remain and the music continues to be guitar driven and punchy with hooks and catchy melodies.  
I'm thankful the creativity continues. The fact the writing and playing still excites and intrigues is a bonus! Where there's a story to tell and a melody to be heard the last song is always my drug for the next.

Latest adventure was the release of 'Green Light' from February 27th 2026. Here I feel the sound and package is truly coherent and the music and production is clearly mine however there's more depth and weight to the tracks. The culmination of my writing, lived experience and growth as a musician that feels instinctive and natural now. After such an intense period of creativity. I was initially afraid that passion would pass however now I'm grateful that isn't the case and the motivation and  enjoyment of creating new pieces and the process continues far beyond my initial expectations. 
So the next album nears its completion half a year again on from the last and I hope you like it.
