Vocals are back on after the last 2 instrumentals. Great fun to record , it's d tuned with a simple bluesy riff and cheeky guitar solo, naturally. Rounded off with a harmonised finale. This is part of 4 tracks that were all penned at once, the remaining three are in the final stages of completion.

'Can't Go Back' has been a while (for me) in the making and is my current favourite off the soon to be released 9th album. The guitar riff dates from last summer and the lyrics and harmonies from last month. The outro was a lot of fun as was doing the bass and the guitar solo, Les Paul harmonics squealing from an evil rectifier setting. Enjoy.

It's been a while for me since the last release so this title is apt. Album 10 is taking shape nicely with 4 additional tracks nearing completion. 
'Comes Round Again' is all Les Paul which commenced with the riff and middle eight which was just addictive. The temptation was to rock it up with heavier guitars which I resisted, well till the solo anyway!

As ever from me I've been told this is not your average rock song. Lead and Rhythm guitar is all Gibson 335 with a catchy riff and a chorus of harmonies, some cheeky guitar and drum fills held in place by slinky bass. The guitar rhythm is restrained (for me)and very addictive to play with an octave driven solo and staccato interlude which is not a phrase I use everyday! 
In summary it's 3.27 minutes of alternative rock pop and was a lot of fun to finalise.
The unfinished tracks are taking shape, though always interspersed with new songs and ideas vying for attention.

In complete contrast to last track 'Together', here's 'Man on the Run'. It's old school driven with both barrels, Les Paul tuned down and turned up through the Marshall and in full Crybaby Wah Wah mode in the solo. 
Catchy lyrics, harmonies and token tambourine assist in the momentum which is racing to the horizon. 
Very much in the vain of 'Lips on Mine', 'Gotta Get Up' and 'Easy as 123' it's full throttle, unapologetic and great fun. Enough hype, get your ears on it. 
2 more pending, a bluesy rocker and another riff blaster then onto some quieter sessions, honest.

It's quite psychedelic and has a hypnotic groove. In the mould of prior track 'Would You Be Cool?' off the album 'Who Would You Be?'.

'Call My Name'  has been a while in the making. The work in progress demo was released on Instagram just showing the guitar rhythm so this is the transformation to produced and mastered. A bitter sweet melancholic track with a strong melody and harmony line.  It took a while as I'm working on three other tracks simultaneously, as I do!

After the relative simplicity of 'Renaissance' here's the contradiction in styles and bigger production of 'Take It Back Home'. 
Really enjoyed bringing this one together and I'm getting into my funky bass lines I think it's an addiction! 
Tried and tested Les Paul and Marshall combination banging out the rock with an infectious NickG chorus and some psychedlia thrown in to spice it up from 2.27 onwards. 
This has focused the mind, it's reminiscent of tracks from my first album 'The Black Tulip' where multiple tracks are layered and melodies conjoin. It's a lot of fun and hopefully the end result works for you too.

Kept Me Running

Well to follow a 'Town In The West' I feel isn't the easiest of tasks. However if anything I write is going to compete , it's Just the Tonic! . This chord sequence came to play (originally intended as a Jazzer) and I tried some vocal lines which escalated into Just the Tonic. So hope the feedback is similar. Have to admit I can currently churn out guitar songs without too much issue but lyrics and 'bloody' harmonies are a whole new ball game ! Its fun though (if you like herding a chorus of 'wailing cats') and very addictive, even managed to squeeze in a guitar solo here. There's a nod to the great band which is led by Chrissie Hynde in my attempted vocal line, listen to 'Kid' or 'Talk of the Town', timeless classics. 
As I tell L&S, 'this is my best song yet, kids' .
Keep the guitars and harmonies loud and in tune and without peaking into the red zone.

Just The Tonic.WAV

So there I was checking through the running order for album number two and there wasn't an opener. All of a sudden 'Where are you Now ' pops out of nowhere with its hammer on intro , chunky chords and cheeky wah wah solo. Ideal candidate in a rigged election, both barrels start for that often quoted 'difficult second album'. However perhaps that'll be my issue for the third as for the second I had no issue in compiling the running order , all songs hot off the press from April till now, so fresh as the proverbial newly picked fruit. I hope the shelf life of the recent offerings stands the test of time as feel I am writing more nuanced and musically intelligent songs (hey get me !!)though still with my quirky 'unique' style of alternative , positive pop rock. If that genre hasn't been used before I'm having it ok? 
On a different note I have another two lined up which sound nothing like this so there we go , the third album will be starting soon then, ha! As ever, Nick.

I found inspiration for this today and what had taken all week was then completed in a matter of hours. This is ES335 all the way put through the Vox amp. Its d tuned to aid as a drone. Admittedly this is my default sound with the 335 , though the next track is a full blown jazzer on the ES175. Album 6 almost in the bag...

Gibson Cherry Dot obsession continues. Inspired by exciting grooves and a 60’s vibe which I wear on my sleeve. There’s an eclectic mix of guitar fuelled rhythms all written, produced and performed by myself which have now culminated in 200 tracks within 4 years. Having added vocals to the mix this has brought a further depth and individuality to the songs. 2020 saw the creativity in writing and self releasing 2 EP's and 9 albums 'The Black Tulip' , 'Prismatic' , 'Who Would You Be?' , 'The Red Carpet', 'Cat & Mouse', ‘How This Plays Out', 'Positive Signs', 'All The Colours' and  '9' from April 2022, it's frenetic.
These are available on the usual outlets Spotify/iTunes/Deezer/Pandora/Napster, Bandcamp etc.

Its eclectic, quirky, I confess, British? Experimental in places but above all stuffed full with Gibson guitars, energy and a passion for music and life in the highs and lows that days of late bring.  Hope you appreciate the artwork too all photographed or produced by me to keep it authentic and original.

The tenth album 'Keep On' saw the development of style and flow which  includes my personal favourites 'The Things That You Love', 'Man on The Run' and the title track, 'Keep On'. These all adapted a different approach and development that simply wouldn't have occurred at the start of the journey,  

The music's progressing and the next album 'The Perfect Storm' is out Friday September 15th. This album really is the musical culmination of events and the proverbial cherry on top. Personal choices at the moment are the opener Can't Erase The Memory, I Can and of course The Perfect Storm. 
 
I'm thankful the creativity continues. The fact the writing and playing still excites and intrigues is a bonus! The last song is always my drug for the next, 200 songs in and counting it's not abating anytime soon.  Till the next one....
