Altered Exposure - Sasha and John Digweed's 'Northern Exposure' reimagined

This mix was created for the /r/classicstrance comp, the prompt encouraging one or more rare tracks (hence the 'under the table') pre-2008 trance with no other restrictions. Freedom! I've been itching to make a classics prog set for a while anyway. This set leans in to that classic late 90s prog sound, although it reaches in to the EE era as well. Journey prog was always my favorite and likely always likely will be. Shame the genre is nearly non-existent in 2023. I wanted this mix to be dreamy and a bit more emotive than some of the mixes I've made lately. This mix really takes its time as well, so sit back for the ride. There are some footnotes to explain the rarity or composition path for some of the tracks below. 128-137bpm. Enjoy.

**** 2023 update to a remix/masher I made a few years back. Wanted to resurrect this one for a while. I would not usually dissect such pristine tracks, but I noticed a few years ago that Lost Tribe's 'Under the Red Sea' and Darey's infamous 'Wizards of the Sonic' Remix were made from the same ingredients. Had to cook up a new recipe with them. This is a longer version with a remaster.
***** 2023 update to an outro remix. This update has more elements of the red sea and extended.
****** I thought I could use the Solarstone Pure Intro as it is 2011 remix of a 1999 track, but alas, I missed a rules clarification for modern booties only. This hybrid was made to get around the rules.

Hit The Jackpot

1999-2001 was when trance really made an impact for me, so making a 1999 mix was deffo on my list! This era of trance had such a wide spectrum of music, few rules... few who cared about genre... just bangin' sets and bangin' people. You never really knew what to expect from some DJ's who would spin up quite the variety of trance, house, and whatever felt right for the night. 

And that's how I approached this mix. A bit funky, a bit weird, and ever so 1999. Except for the intro, which is not 1999, and I am sorry about that but it had to be done.

And that leads to my mix, which is called The Inside Joke. There's a backstory to the beginning of this mix and maybe, just maybe, one of you will get it. Enjoy, was a lot of fun making it.
