This song was inspired by working closely with a group of young people from Paisley (Scotland) who wanted to learn and be involved in making a music video. They also wanted to be involved in promoting the positive nature of Hip Hop as a tool for personal and communal development and empowerment and to inspire other young people.  The track is upbeat and MOG & JKC lyrics both reflect and shine a beacon of hope, which is long overdue in our current consumer driven society.

Tripolar sees Stuart Jackson, Adam Holmes and MOG reunite as Bang Dirty. The folk/rap/electronic formula will be familiar to fans of their debut effort, Everyone Out. That album attained cult status, a trickle of downloads giving rise to a steady flow of domestic and international purchases, fuelled by word of mouth, a handful of gigs and the lure of lead track Break Up, which was accompanied by a well-received video.

For the band's follow-up, Tripolar retains the lush instrumentation and gritty lyrics, while cranking production up a notch, the lowest depths and highest highs set against a backdrop of haunting piano, ebullient strings and shimmering guitar. 

'She' is part poetry, part love letter while 'Enigma' is downright nasty. Everyone Out featured four guest spots; this time around, only Gasp appears, the Glasgow rapper nailing a 16 onto the assured 'So Many Mics'. Instead, vocal duties are left to MOG who is on top form as he ponders lives lost, time passed and hands won. With Adam Holmes weighing in with saccharine hooks and bitter-sweet choruses, the album switches effortlessly from dark street to smoky bar; sunny scheme to choppy sea. 

During the course of ten tracks, listeners are taken on a ferris feel of emotions and a rollercoaster of sonic palettes; Tripolar is melancholy, angry and elated in equal measure. An apt name for an eagerly-anticipated sequel.

This week sees ‘Vagabonds In Space’ blasting into orbit, the startling new EP from two of Scottish hip-
hop’s brightest stars. Werd and Wardie Burns, under their Vagabonds pseudonym, have collaborated
with Zambian Astronaut to create a conceptual mini-album that merges orchestral flourishes with raw,
resonating rhymes. Strings crash, snares thump and bass throbs as the Vagabonds spit uncompromising
bars that ebb and flow over every track.

Werd is one of Scotland’s most respected rappers, his hard-hitting rhymes merging lightning-fast punch
lines and astute social commentary. Wardie Burns, having released the acclaimed ‘Oor Wardie’ album
with UVBeatz, is earning a formidable reputation thanks to his outspoken persona and unique delivery that
shocks and amuses in equal measure. With Edinburgh’s Zambian Astronaut taking care of beats, hooks and
production, Vagabonds In Space is a slick EP that takes listeners on a stellar journey, referencing Susan

East-West Explosion: Scottish hip-hop heavyweights unleash new EP

Bonded in Bonds is the uncompromising new release that promises to take Scottish hip-hop to a new plateau.  The unique collaboration pits Mog’s Glaswegian story-telling rhymes against the genre-hopping soundscape of Edinburgh’s Zambian Astronaut.

Kicking off with the dull, throbbing beats of ‘Ze Money’, Bonded In Bombs is a six-track tour de force that shows why Scottish hip-hop is one of the last bastions of free expression.  The accents might be regional, but the music and the message refuse to be constrained by manmade frontiers: love, alienation and red machetes are universal themes.

Mog scatters lyrics like paint on a Jackson Pollock, spattering tracks with the sort of imagery that would keep war veterans up at night.  Along the way, the Mog-ZA juggernaut stops briefly to pick up Becca Starr and Adam Holmes to provide consonant vocals on ‘No, No, No’.  Becca Starr also appears on ‘Straight From The Soul’, while Nostal guests on the disturbing ‘Whatever, Fuck You’.  Edinburgh is also represented on the EP by Werd, who provides bars on the Skip James-indebted ‘Killin Floor’.

Bonded In Bombs is defined by hypnotic beats, effortless lyricism and a smattering of naggingly-insistent hooks that counterbalance the EP’s more psychotic moments.

Lead single ‘Ze Money’ is accompanied by a gritty, film noir video that will leave the viewer sleeping with the lights on and the curtains drawn.
