Tristesse Contemporaine is glued together by three adopted Parisians, a Japanese girl and two guys, one British, one Swedish.
Raw, desperate and hypnotic energy engulfed by memories of Shoegazer and Krautrock.
The trio flirt in the shadows of Suicide with catchy melodies and synth-pop, held together by that androgynous voice, suspended on the razor's edge of that beautiful vintage bass.

Romantic and flamboyant, arrogant and haunting, their first album imagines a world in chiaroscuro, where the electrical illuminations of shoegazing merge with electronic beats, with a heightened new wave sensitivity.

La voie du Pingouin prend sa source dans les musiques du monde qui ont marqué son enfance. Rock'n'roll, jazz, musique classique, paroliers de la chanson française mais aussi eurodance des années 90 seront autant de mélodies en bagage. A l'age de 15 ans il découvre 2 étranges bâtons nommés baguettes qui dès lors ne le quitteront plus, s'agitant au son du rock, du rap, de la pop et du métal. Radiohead, Noir désir, System of a down, IAM ou encore Mr. Bungle deviendront ses principales sources d'inspirations. En 2004 avec la découverte de l'album Chip jockey #5 d'Interlope, il met une palme dans l'univers de l'electro puis c'est en 2011 que s'opère un véritable coup de foudre avec la Drum & Bass. C'est là une révolution dans tout l'Antartique: la Drum & Bass est le prolongement éléctronique du Rock, et la Neurofunk celui du Métal!
Il était maintenant temps de faire partager sa vision du mix à coup de double drops: sombre mais dynamique, mélancolique mais mélodique, mental mais exutoire. La Voie du Pingouin, c'est la banquise où s'esquisse le rythme qui donne des ailes et les mélodies qui racontent une histoire.
En 2014 il créé avec ses camarades de sons Bruno aka S-Cuz, Ben - B-nouille, et Nath le graphiste la team "JUMP'N'BASS" pour organiser des soirées aux styles mélangés: du Dubstep au Crossbreed/Hardcore en passant par la Drum&Bass/Jump Up/Neurofunk, avec comme valeurs diversité, partage, ambiance familiale et plateau de dj's locaux. En 2015 l'asso se développe et les projets aussi!

It’s not often that a young mans musical production has a wide range like Jonas Briere’s aka. SubMarine’s music. It can be described as something between sublow, skipping-fast and cinematographic. 
The Producer and DJ based in Berlin started his musical journey in Cologne 2010. Fast forward 3 years with 19, SubMarine had his first official release with ‘Razzia’ on ‘Bassliebe’ which demonstrated his affinity for the fast paced, deep & rolling Ed Rush & Optical inspired Drum & Bass. 
But it really was the dubstep infused ’15 Knots’ released on the same label two years later that caught peoples attention. It was picked up by Fixate who played it on BBC Radio 1 and only a couple weeks later, live at the Exit Records Outlook Boat Party. One could say it was a turning point in this young germans life, getting salutes by Skeptical and SP:MC live on stage! Spurred by this experience a new chapter of commitment to music arised and soon releases followed. Single tracks as well as EPs on labels like Demand Records, Boundless Beats, 20/20 LDN (/w Shield), Cyberfunk, Artikal Music, Flexout (/w Survey) were released with a variety of styles. But not only that he also caused quite some stir with his Mala and Dimension bootlegs and got that little edit treatment of his track 'Club Mate' by Noisia themself! 
Arrived now in his mid-20s, Jonas is going to match or even surpass the 2018 success of the 'Posse EP' on Dispatch Recordings and the 'Xertz EP' on 1985 Music, run by Alix Perez.  
As we move forward to the next year this not so yellow SubMarine is going to try to evolve even more, commiting himself to one of his Idols (Alix Perez), so expect some music on 1985 Music but also labels like Demand Records, Methlab or Safa Sound!
