So much talent from my part of the country (SW Louisiana, SE Texas) George Jones, Tracy Byrd, Mark Chesnutt, George Straight, Janis Joplin, Edgar Winters and the list goes on.  Tracy Lawrence sang with a Louisiana based band in 1988-1990.  He was shot 4 times by robbers in may 1991 which delayed his first album Sticks and Stones.  He was named top new male country vocalist in 1993.  He continues to create great music.  Just one of my favorite Tracy Lawrence songs.

Rock and Roll Kills

Back around 2015, I started taking guitar lessons from an instructor who was really into Bluegrass Music. I soon discovered that didn't have an aptitude for the guitar and didn't have a great desire to practice enough to make up for any natural ability. 
I did mention to my instructor that I had written a couple of songs and maybe our time would be better spent learning how to record these songs.
One day I tried to write a 'bluegrass" tune and titled it, "I've Done It Again." We recorded it. Years later, I wanted to revisit some of my earlier recordings and see what they might sound like with professional musicians. Nicky V. Hines, currently the lead guitarist with Shenandoah acted as musical director, guitarist, arranger, engineer, and producer for me on this finally finished new version. (Several versions have been posted on my SC page throughout the years. This will be the Spotify, Apple, Amazon etc version of which I shall make .002 of a penny every time it is played.) On bass is Martin Motnik currently a member of the popular European Heavy Metal Band "Accept." (Trust me, I have no idea how a country bumpkin like me ended up working with Heavy Metal - but I dig it.) On keyboards is the wonderful Tim McDonald , out of Nashville. On drums is another Nashvillian, Travis L.. Super people and very, very talented and experienced.
I like this version very much - musically. I think the mix is excellent (Nicky V. Hines) and I like how he took down the reverb on the vocal, it sounds a bit edgier, a little more vulnerable, and real. 
What's the song about? It's about not being able to take off the "masks" and take down the walls . Although "good lover" is sexual certainly sounding - we can mess up good love in other ways too - family, friends, etc. And, although we can deeply feel the pain of our actions, sometimes we just can't seem to get out of our own way. 
It is a song about being human. Thank you Nicky!

I've Done It Again

This is a cover of the time honored Christmas classic that grew to particular popularity and meaning during WWII for American soldiers fighting far from home. Nat and I both love the song but we wanted to try something a little more lively while maintaining the ultimate melancholy of the words. We send this out with the hope that it reaches all our friends with its longing for home and the eternal loving spirit of Christmas. (Photo: Ralph Morse)

Nat wrote this beautiful song some time ago inspired by some of the greatest love stories of the world, including her own, and we have slowly worked on a properly produced final version where she will sing the lead. But inspired by the song myself, I decided to record my own simplified version just as a “Voice Memo” on my i-phone. Nat loved it and it hung around as we continued to look toward the piano based version with Nat’s lead vocal. But with Valentine’s Day nearly upon us and little time to make a major production effort, she decided to sing along to my rough, live recording and this is what we have to offer. The bigger version will follow but, for now, we wish all who aspire to love, a very Happy Valentine’s Day 2024!

Renowned and well respected Alabama Lyricist Tony Harris had some lyrics that needed music and vocals , I obviously jumped at the chance and got to work on it ! We've done another one since which is out on the 8th of April . Me , Gaz and Greg have a belter out on the 1st and Charlotte and I have 2 great numbers waiting in the wings . In Memoriam and as a Lasting Tribute to the Late Great, Allen Bailey....Gone, but Never Forgotten. This is a wonderful Allen Bailey Original Tune that I just loved from the moment I first heard it. I sent some ideas for a Collab contribution to Allen, and he graciously re-recorded to allow me to better integrate my vocals, guitar, drums, etc... We liked how it sounded, and then Gabe Vanore of VanGabriel Production took this one to another level for us. Thanks, Allen and Gabe for pushing this one down the rails, and for letting me ride this rather magical train. I feel genuinely privileged to have been a contributor on this joyful project.

This one was recorded in my own AcoustaTronic style long ago. Recently resurrected the files and ReMiXed. These haunting, memorable lyrics speak just as meaningfully to The Opioid and Heroin Crisis today, as when Reznor first penned the Original. Hoping tragic losses and addictions affecting so many continue receiving all needed support, attention, and coordination in working toward the elimination of this mind-boggling situation. Remembering old friends and places with such great images.  This song
was written by Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen Jr,. while they attended
Texas A&M in the late 70's. It was released by Lyle in 1986.  What an American singer and songwriter.  A gem of a song

This Old Porch   (  cover - Lyle Lovett)

Whipped up a variation of a previously created backing track that I had arranged using BIAB, and then added a contemporaneous lead while listening and playing along on my Fender Mustang. Mixed it all up and named it 'Light It Up'. Hope it's enjoyed. We all can use a little Light about now.
