The original version of this story was recorded and produced as part of KCRW's 24-Hour Radio Race. The task: make a non-fiction radio story of 4-minutes or less within 24 hours. The theme was, "Won't You Be My Neighbor."

The next day, I decided to revisit the edit I'd submitted and make a couple of changes to help to give the story space and let it breathe a bit. This piece was an Official Selection for On Air Fest in 2022.

Shawn Dromgoole is a 30-year-old black man who grew up in the South Nashville neighborhood known as Sunnyside(today called 12 South).
