Here we go with the fifty-first installment of our Concrete podcast series coming from one of our residents and collective members: @djsaunameister .

... not having a clue what is going to face him moving to Berlin for art studies at the age of 20.. Techno slowly became a part of his life.
Reflecting the cycles of everyday life, his passion for dancing through the nights slowly merged into a need to create this kind of sound images himself...

Jeff, dug deep into the club scene of Berlin and made friends with one of the concrete founders @stvyl at Sisyphos, who soon encouraged him to take his approach on productions more serious and try himself with out with mixing. 

One year ago he started mixing with vinyls and his passion grew even stronger. Becoming an inherent part of the collective his abilities could be tested soon on the concrete underground raves and vinyl only open airs of the befriended @veiled_sound collective.

Blending 90's tribal, trance with trippy new school cuts in his mixes, he slowly enters the soundscapes he was looking for during those hot' n' sweaty club nights.

In parallel she is also continuously developing her sound as a producer with already several releases behind her.

For our 20th edition we were able to bring you an artist who’s really been making huge moves in the scene both on his own and with the incredible HAYES Collective from Portugal. Temudo actually started out in drum n bass which explains certain choices of aesthetic in his techno.

Having studied music and being a mixing and mastering engineer himself, Temudo blends the musical and technical approaches in order to control powerful sound designs often through controlled saturation. Sequenced textures give a lot of groove to his pacey tracks and it’s for this reason he’s been able to score a lot of very interesting record deals with some of the scene’s most sought-after labels. Klockworks, Soma, and MORD have all had the chance to work with him and that’s only this year.

The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from AISHA. The Glasgow based DJ and producer has been one of the brightest talents coming out of Scotland and she quickly made a name of herself with super nice high energy, trance infused productions. We've been enjoying her EP on Drec a lot as of late and she also a resident at Animal Farm Glasgow. Today she delivers a scorching mix of her deadly dance floor decimating sound.

The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from technovvintage. The alias of Elina Sokolovskаya, the Russian artist is a resident at Deprave Tekstil Music from St.Petersburg and she has become an exciting new DJ to watch, playing parties across Russia as well as mixes featured on Paris' Maxxximum Radio. She prefers EBM, industrial and other brvtal sounds and this set is the perfect example.

SPFDJ’s fleet movement behind the decks could have you wondering whether she’s the DJ or a dancer in the crowd. Her impressive bouts of energy and hell-bent focus matched by an instantly recognisable Techno: the seductive thud of a kick drum endlessly inciting clubbers to move. For Bassiani Podcast 109, the Intrepid Skin founder invokes both forest rave and brutalist panorama with a full-throttle hour of snaking and implacable beats. It’s Lina Jonsson’s rave, we’re just dancing in it.

Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: Dima Kachan  

Dima Kachan is a Belarusian DJ and producer. He began his musical career in 2009 as a participant in hardcore and punk bands. A few years later, fascinated by electronic music, Dima made his debut as a promoter and journalist to develop the local electronic scene, which organically flowed into DJing. 

In 2018, Dima founded the Pravda25 project, which regularly organizes huge queer parties Somasutra, positioned not only as raves but also as a mindset with a retained focus on quality music, hedonism, and freedom of self-expression. In 2020, Dima joined derschein project (the biggest and most iconic techno platform in Belarus) as a resident, and in 2021 he released his first techno EP, «Euphoric Recall» on that label. 

Dima’s playing style can be defined as eclectic but mostly built on fast and expressive techno. Two primary goals that the artist sets for himself at every performance are establishing a strong connection with the huge crowd on the dance floor and turning an ordinary DJ set into an adventure with unexpected but harmonious twists.

Currently based in Berlin, it comes as no surprise that Edward Treleaven a.k.a. Tred comes from Australia when you have a first listen to his sound.

Going into his discography, we can clearly see a transition into maximal composition evolving from three releases between 2018 and 2019 to his current work starting in 2021. With the first two on New York’s E-missions label, the tempo is relatively high, but remains familiar, characterized by spacious melodies over thinner Detroit electro grooves. The last release in this style, ‘Planet Perth’ came in the form of a 4 track EP with remix invitations for unignorable electro artists Privacy and fellow Australian Jensen Interceptor.

With a small pause in 2020, Tred came back in force the following year with a new sound for back to back releases on Lobster Theremin’s main label and sub label 1Ø PILLS MATE. These tracks mark a switch where high intensity, hybrid techno becomes the focus to fully match the label’s artistic direction.

Making a solid impact in a rapidly evolving scene, Tred confirmed his relevance with these last two releases to push forward a DJing career that takes him all over Europe and Australia. Playing alongside heavyweight artists all over, it doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon for him.

Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: BitterCaress

For several years now, BitterCaress has been pursuing her own musical path. Coming from a classical music background and after studying the piano at the conservatory for several years in Paris, she discovered techno in Montreal when she moved there in 2014.

Professional raver and techno events organizer for a while, she had the chance to broaden her musical culture before going behind the decks at the end of 2018.

Her sharp selection reveals a marked taste for heavy bass and uncompromising beats. Her style is best described as ravy and highly energetic as she draws her inspiration from old school techno, mixing ravy and trancy atmospheres with raw and industrial energies. The artist gets highly creative behind the decks with her openness to other genres and her appetite for risks when comes the time to play unexpected guilty pleasures. BitterCaress definitely knows how to make people dance and will slay any dancefloors.

Her journey has just started but she is already well-established in the Montreal local scene with several gigs under her belt notably at Stereo Nightclub or at Piknic Electronik and her residency at one of the scene’s most hyped collective, OCTOV. Playing alongside Jacidorex or Nur Jaber, among talented others, has definitely put her on the techno map. At the end of 2021, she has also begun to make some waves internationally with several podcasts for many renowned SoundCloud channels such as Possession, The Brvtalist or Instruments of Discipline.

BitterCaress also curates the Mixing for a Cause podcast series where she gives the floor to some local and international artists to raise awareness about causes that are meaningful to them.

In the same spirit, since the end of 2020, she is now managing her brand-new solo project called MFC Records. A label established as a way to support newcomers, fresh talents and already established artists from all over the world who would like to support a cause. All proceeds from the releases are going to carefully chosen non-for-profit organizations.

Through this series and that label, she hopes to build awareness and a better future world.
