Mô'ti Tëi c’est le projet d'un homme, le projet d’une vie de passion, dans la conviction d’avoir des choses à dire et à défendre. En parfait mélomane, il compose un premier album au style folk rock marquant. Dire qu’il est difficile d’innover en matière de folk Rock n’est pas mentir! Il ne suffit pas de vouloir, faut-il encore pouvoir arborer fièrement ses armes, le torse en avant et la guitare à la main. Sans chercher à raviver les influences mille fois entendues, qui ont nourri son imagination et sa discographie intérieure idéale, Mô'ti Tëi parvient à sortir des sentiers battus en nous dévoilant des pépites scintillantes. Ses guitares et sa voix forment cette particularité riche de sens avec laquelle il nous invite à un voyage épique et onirique du plus bel effet. Les influences revendiquées se retrouvent parfaitement au travers de ces mélodies toutes plus enlevées les unes que les autres. On retrouve chez lui tant d'inspirations parfaitement distillées au gré de sublimes riffs toujours placés avec justesse et parcimonie. Accueillons donc comme il se doit la fraîcheur et la force à la limite de l’outrecuidance qu'il réussit à nous transmettre en faisant trembler de plaisir notre épiderme dans d'impressionnantes ascensions sensorielles. L’ambiance est celle d’une bande son de film, c’est évident et surtout un manifeste à la poursuite d’un cheminement personnel vibrant. Road-trip sensoriel où l’imaginaire est leitmotiv et l’horizon l'unique limite. Cette intensité qu’il nous témoigne avec l’utilisation des sonorités anglo-saxonnes, est un tout indivisible autour du thème central en gardant une magnifique place aux mélodies dans l’harmonie. Percutant, et plus encore poignant grâce à sa prodigieuse montée en puissance vocale, il est loin d’être linéaire. Mô'ti Tëi joue avec nos émotions en se dirigeant vers l’intimiste en touchant le majestueux au gré des mélodies. Sans doute la meilleure façon de rester au plus proche de nous, en étant toujours imprégné par une certaine emphase contagieuse qui nous transporte au-delà de nos espérances. A la croisée d'un chemin entre Folk Rock et Blues, qui se transforme au fil des minutes, Mô'ti Tëi nous invite vers des contrées inconnues, d’autres horizons plus intenses, il change de couleur et se révèle sous un autre jour. C'est bien là toute la force de cette ardeur renouvelée. Vous l’aurez compris, et osons le dire Mô'ti Tëi est Imparable, puissant et délicat, il nous enivre par ses mélodies et par la justesse des sentiments qu’ils arpentent.
A l’écoute de son album les nombreux convaincus passeront les prochaines semaines avec son empreinte en se disant tout simplement qu'il est arrivé au bon moment de nos vies pour nous redonner envie de partager tous ensemble le même voyage.
C'est avec une contribution de plus de 70 personnes, d'un soutien de la ville de Rennes et quelques cachets de concerts mis de cotés que ce projet verra le jour début juin 2021. Il sortira en vinyle, cd digisleeve et en digital et sera distribué par Inouïe distribution. Pour la réalisation graphique et suite aux conseils avisés de Benoît Morel, c'est Thibault Balahy qui signe l'artwork de "Well Dressed Exil : Second Humming ... Affaire à suivre !

Fagotto Editions was founded in 1984. Right from the start, it brought a new perspective to the way of learning music. Books full of life and enjoyment, with the complement of auxiliary acoustic material (audio tapes then, CD and Internet sharing now), opened the way to amateur musicians, concerning the approach of the instrument they were interested in. All books are based on the understanding that music is not a forbidden ground for the non specialists, neither is its learning an ascetic occupation of few. 

Οι Εκδόσεις Fagotto ιδρύθηκαν το 1984. Από το ξεκίνημά τους έφεραν νέα αντίληψη στον τρόπο εκμάθησης της μουσικής. Βιβλία ζωντανά και χαρούμενα, με τη συνοδεία ακουστικών βοηθημάτων, άνοιξαν το δρόμο σε ερασιτέχνες μουσικούς να προσεγγίσουν το όργανο που τους ενδιαφέρει. Όλα τα βιβλία στηρίζονται στην αντίληψη οτι η μουσική δεν είναι ένα απαγορευμένο πεδίο για τους μη ειδικούς, ούτε η εκμάθησή της μια ασκητική ενασχόληση για λίγους.


When Leon Michels name first appeared on a record, he was 16. That release was Thunder Chicken, and the group was his high school band, The Mighty Imperials. The record was essentially an homage to The Meters, at the time it was near pitch-perfect for the budding retro-soul scene. While that release was an early step for Michels, aspects of it have almost become trademarks of his work: a unique raw-yet-disciplined approach to his sound and songwriting, and a soulful genuineness that has a sense of humor one minute and a sense of solace the next.

Right from the jump his hustling work ethic was evident, always involved in a lot at once. While finishing Thunder Chicken, Michels began touring and recording with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings—which he did for the next 7 years. During that time he was also recording songs in a makeshift home studio and preparing for what would be his first full-length record, Sounding Out The City, and the first release under the name El Michels Affair. In 2004, when Sounding Out The City was recorded, Michels’ obsession with Euro Library, American soul, and early rocksteady crept its way into the songwriting and recording aesthetic, the outcome was something Michels appropriately dubbed “Cinematic Soul.” The album was to be the first release on Truth & Soul Records, a new label Michels co founded.

The lo-fi warm recording aesthetic and bottom heavy production alongside the immediate success of EMA’s debut release lead to playing a show with Raekwon of Wu-Tang fame. That show went over so well it lead to a tour with El Michels backing multiple members of the Wu-Tang Clan. It was these shows that ended up laying the groundwork for the release of El Michels Affair’s second full-length, Enter the 37th Chamber, which eventually introduced them to a worldwide audience. While the band’s fanbase went through the roof, the industry also quickly recognized that EMA was a force to be reckoned with. Almost in a domino effect, a huge range of hip-hop artists sampled Michels’ songs, from Ghostface Killah, Just Blaze, and Jay-Z to J Dilla, J.Cole, and Travis Scott.

While simultaneously running a label, playing / touring, and co-producing other artist’s music Michels helped found The Menahan Street Band, co-produced Aloe Blacc’s sophomore smash LP, Good Things, and received a writer credit on Adele’s Grammy-nominated album, 19. Shortly there after Michels found himself on tour with The Black Keys after being cold-called by Auerbach and asked to join them on the road. It turned out that Auerbach was a big fan of the sound and approach of the Lee Fields record “My World”, which Michels produced. When Auerbach was tapped to make Dr. John’s critically acclaimed album , “Locked Down” and Lana Del Rey’s LP, “Ultraviolence”, Michels was brought along to play and add his signature sound. That led to being included in and touring for Auerbach’s psych-rock project, The Arcs, which features Michels as a musician and co-producer. 

in 2016, Michels co-founded Big Crown Records with Danny Akalapse, the second record label Michels has helped build from the ground. Since then, he has produced a majority of the albums from the labels roster including Lee Fields, Lady Wray, Brainstory, Paul & The Tall Trees, Liam Bailey, and Thee Lakesiders.  Michels has also produced records for Beyonce & Jay-Z’s side project, The Carters, Hanni El Khatib, Chicano Batman, Marco Benevento, and Don Toliver.

In 2020, Michels will release the second album of original material under the El Michels Affair moniker.  The Album, entitled Adult Themes, which Michels calls “the soundtrack to an imaginary movie,” creates a lush, evocative, complex and eclectic collection of tunes that will keep your ears on edge as you nod your head.
