A uke is easier on your hands,
Strings that bend within your plans.
Service is a work of the soul,
A return to what keeps us whole.

But service is not an attribute, of any one religion,
Not any more than holiness is.
Many who serve life, don’t do it formally, yet all are a blessing.

We should pay attention to the commonplace,
Need that’s staring us in the face.
We can let others show us who we are.
So we’ll stop looking near and far.

We can share present time together, allowing it to glitter,
Share its secret gems,
The sweet madness of things when they convene to mend.

In following the notes to the valley where stars dwell,
Maybe this time we’ll listen ….

Color’s a form of storytelling,
Green for growth outside our dwellings.
Sky pushes up with gray,
Blue breaks through the day.

Sentences like stones, can build cathedrals.
And with a voice like a song, you can hear a rising prayer,
Speaking the language of the stars.
